#104 - My view of Rightwingers wouldn't be item 103 if they would learn to get rid of the bad seed. I'm actually NOT a left-winger. I'm a moderate, but to do what was done in the last 6 months, and then have the head of the Senate proceed to pre-meditate innocence and avoid witnesses for what is clearly a coverup has lead to that entry. If they would get rid of Orange Anu$, I'd have a lot more respect for the party as a whole! I have actually voted about 50/50 in my lifetime between parties, but if they don't kick this clown out of office, I have no choice but to go straight blue in November. It's one thing to be a Republican. It's another thing to support blackmail, treason, election cheating, and beyond simply because he's in the same party as you.

As a Brit, I really dont know enough about the goings-on in US to presume to comment. I DO see Trump benefitting economy; I DO think he has to control rampant immigration, if he's to help his people...but it's not for me to say more. In UK (as indeed in US) the onetime valid leftist movement has been hijacked by a vocal, self absorbed, often female nutjob element, screaming, protesting and endlessly 'offended' & vulnerable. Free speech- which i utterly endorse - is invariably (when it contradicts their beliefs) dismissed as 'hate speech' thus closing down any rational debate. ('Hate speech' remains perfectly permissible as long as youre aiming it at a Trump supporter, 'posh boy' Tory etc) All of which has turned me from a convinced Commie in teens (!) to VERY VERY RIGHT WING! Nice to exchange comments with you- we see the same names every day, but I just picture you sitting over your chessboard! xx

#117 - In essence, what you are seeing is a false positive. Has the stock market gone up? Yes! Who benefits? The Rich! Has he cut taxes? Yes! On who? Extremely large corporations and the extremely rich! The debt has increases as a result of it, something the Republicans cry about all the time when the Dems are in office, and the taxes are going up to help the poor and middle class be able to live a decent life, not to make the Rich all the more richer.
All of that is NOT the "Impeachable" part of it. When Joe Biden declared he would run for the 2020 election in April 2019, Trump's approach changed. I didn't totally agree with his political agenda, but nothing he did was impeachable that could be proven (there still is question about hiring Russia to intervene with the 2016 election, but not enough proof). Once Biden became a candidate, he was the guy that Trump feared, and he knew the situation with Ukraine. They are in trouble with Russia, they NEED the money that we agreed to pay them a while back when we de-armed them. So since Trump KNOWS that they are dependent upon us, he took that to his own advantage to promote his own political campaign, not the rest of the United States.
He prevents Pence from going to the inauguration of the new leader of The Ukraine.
He cancels the meeting between the New Leader of Ukraine in June, a very important meeting for the Ukraine Leader.
He withholds the money used to defend themselves against Russia until they proceed to put dirt on Joe Biden (The impeachable offense).
He then obstructs Congress from gathering evidence. This would be like if I shot you, your spouse saw it, and I block him/her from taking the stand against me! You can't tell me there is nothing wrong with that! (The second impeachable offense).
Now the trial is going on following the impeachment, and while all 100 swore for a fair trial, the majority leader Mitch McConnell already said before the trial started that he would vote acquittal. The Republicans are also trying to avoid witnesses. What the bleep is a trial with no witnesses. The Dems have strong evidence, the Republicans are pre-meditating an innocent verdict, and are supporting a cover-up. Trump is the major problem, but aiding a coverup, which at least 90% of the 53 Republicans in the Senate are doing, is just as bad, and hence why I say the party has gone to shreds.
The other thing that many do not realize is that blackmailing foreign governments to help win a subsequent election is impeachable, and if he is not kicked out of office, it will set a new pecedence for our democracy, and every President, including Democrats, can screw over the country since clearly it can't lead to a kicking out of office, and cheat on the following election!
This is not a matter of being leftist. This is to save our democracy! And to prove I'm no leftist, I also hated Hilary Clinton, and if a better candidate, like Kasich, had won the Republican Primary, i'd have voted for him!

Is Brexit viewed as Good to the average person (i.e. Not Politicians), Bad to the average person, or is it like Republican and Democrat where one side thinks it's the next best thing to sliced bread and the other side thinks the world will end?

Brexit was of course (only just) the choice of the majority, but given that whole areas were strongly pro-Remain (London! Scotland!) the general sense was that those wanting Out were old fogeys, racist, stupid etc. Anyone with any 'street cred' was expected to bewail leaving our European friends. Boldly stating you were a Brexiteer was kind of like saying you liked Trump. And the 'woke' liberal types were actually advocating ignoring the People's Vote (poor fools didnt understand!) or - at best- holding a second referendum to get the 'right' result. Cue much fury from the disrespected majority...Boris got a stonking majority...and it looks as if it's full steam ahead after YEARS of endless debate on TV. Phew!! (Everyone's SICK of it.) ...This has, of course, re-ignited the continuing Scottish demand for independence...despite a recent vote on it being in favour of remaining joined to England, the threat of being dragged against will out of EU has caused them to want to re-run the referendum....

Hmmm...We're only a little island so I personally don't warm to idea of top half being a separate country. I think a lot of us doubt that Scotland would do too well going it alone...I guess it'd be something similar if a US state suddenly announced they wanted to go it alone!
