I'll also be embroidering on and beside the appliquéd bits. I have been having trouble finding fine enough embroidery needles to suit me. I know that I have some, but my needle box has disappeared, and the local stores seem to think that 22 is a fine needle. I finally found a few 24s. They are leaving bigger holes than I am happy with.
Here's a link for an Etsy listing for John James chenille needles in all sizes, notably sizes 26 and 28 (which I haven't run across myself!) Maybe those would be useful for your applique?
I think we might go to England in September, and I will certainly bring lots of needles home. Ordering over the internet is difficult. Many venders won't ship outside their own countries, and if they do the shipping prices are just too high. Amazon only ships the needles with a big order. I won't order at all outside the EU. Customs causes delays and can be expensive. There can even be quite high fees for things going through customs inspections even if in the end no customs are charged.
