Does anyone here remember Book World in New Haven? I think it closed in the 1980s sometime. Just off the Yale campus - Chapel and Park streets, maybe? My favorite bookstore in the 1970s and early 1980s when I lived in New Haven. Its slogan was that it never closed. I always wanted to head over there at 3 AM some morning just to see, but never did. The night shift was handled by a guy who claimed to be a sometime bridge partner of Robert A. Heinlein's.

Wow, I don't remember that but I do remember when Whitlocks was upstairs on Broadway. An attorney bought the Book Barn up in Woodbridge and it is still going strong.

I used to love the Yale Bookstore also, but now it's a Barnes & Noble.

New Haven has changed...

Last I knew, the UConn bookstore in Storrs was still an independent bookstore; perhaps one of the few university stores which still is.

Dukedom,

In New Haven, there's still the Book Trade Cafe:

Just a general FYI...some members over in the Green Dragon group are planning a meet up on 23 Aug at the Book Barn in Niantic, CT. Currently planning on meeting in front of Ellis Island at 11 am.

In case anyone is in the area the GD meet up is still a go for tomorrow. The plan is to meet up at a restaurant in East Lyme, CT called The Shack for lunch at 11. Then we'll all head down the road and spend some time at The Book Barn in Niantic where we'll shop and then congregate at the picnic tables for more chatter until its time to head home.
