This set covers from the Apostolic Fathers to the 7th century in the West and the 8th in the East. I just recieved my members catalogue from www.christianbook.com and the member price for this $1100.00 set of books is $199.00 I originally purchased it for $30 more, as the member price was $229.00 and the random buyer price was the same as now at 249.00. This is a fabulous set of primary source documents from the first to the 8th century of Christianity. The member price is $10.00. I wanted to pass this fabulous deal on. I am not affiliated with the company in any way, I am doing this because I think that it is a great deal, and a great piece of my personal library. God bless.

The title of the series is: The Early Church Fathers (38 vols.) It is divided into three main groups: The Ante-Nicene Fathers, and then two different groupings of Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers. By no means exhaustive, this is a very good resource in print.

I find the contents in the book a really good way to get to know your Church fathers, but the comments/footnotes are a little too biased against a Catholic interpretation of the texts.

The best price I found, back when I was researching this some years back was through Christianbook.com:

Another Church Fathers series where the comments/footnotes give a Catholic interpretation of the texts isThe Fathers of the Church: a New Translation (http://www.librarything.com/series/Fathers+of+the+Church)---we need a touchstone for series---published by the Catholic University of America Press; unfortunately, the series itself is out of print, I think (a major obstacle for the Church Fathers scholar).

The series The Fathers of the Church: A New Translation is available electronically at Scribd.com. I wish i could have the hard copy. The Early Church Fathers series is very good but it was edited and translated by protestant English scholars in the last half of the XIX century and even though the commentaries are good, they have some anti-catholic bias. I have a beautiful edition in my library.

Wow very good to know rgarcia.

Would you recommend any series like this that would be edited by Catholics'?

Thanks for your insights...God Bless+
