I just barely discovered the cookbook (published in 1993) from the Tiptree Award folks, entitled Her Smoke Rose From Supper. I ordered it, and got it in the mail, and what was plastered on the front cover? A book that is cruelly out of print: The Bakery Men Don't See. I went looking on various places that I'd normally find things (and even a few obscure long shots). Nope. Nada. Zilch.

Yes, I know it's a long shot. No, I'm not trying to take away someone else's copy here on LT. The one I have has already been so much fun that I'm sure the first one is something to have. Besides, I'd like to have the complete set...so to speak.

I haven't actually queried the Tiptree people yet; just in case someone knows a trick that I don't, and knows where an extra copy would be hanging out, that would be my first choice. I'll fall back and try for other solutions if I can't find it used, but I have my fingers crossed.

I don't know where you can find a copy, but you can be even more tantalized by seeing all the recipes it includes here: https://tiptree.org/store/the-bakery-men-dont-see-cookbook. It looks pretty tempting!

>3 rpresser: I officially worship the ground you walk upon. I just ordered a copy. I'll post again when it arrives. I chose postal delivery. I'm figuring at least a week before I see it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

>3 rpresser: and >5 Lyndatrue: It arrived today, and I now have gone back to only one book on my wishlist (and that one shall always be there, of course). Excellent work by Lulu Press, and I'm trying to restrain myself from checking to see if they have a catalog online of other books that I ought to have, if I only knew I could have them.

Thank you again, rpresser, wherever you are. :-}
