Hi, :-)
Looks like we need to get this group going... :-)

I stopped in looking for people who might be interested in a new teen fantasy series based on astrology.

The Lost Twins, just released by Blue Works, an imprint of Windstorm Creative, is available now through links on my website, www.debpeterson.com, or on www.amazon.com.

Seconds before two men in black coats try to snatch CK---the girl genius---and Butch---the most popular boy at Loon Lake Middle School---off the stage at the science fair, the kids simply vanish. In a world far across the Milky Way, CK and Butch discover who they truly are: the lost rulers Mercury and Mars. CK isn’t exactly excited about this news, and she struggles with the fact that not only is she the focus of an evil countess’s hunt, she’s the only one who can reclaim the magical caduceus. Only in CK’s hand can this magnificent wand, together with an ancient poem and the power of love, stop the countess from taking control of all communication in the universe. But the only thing CK really wants to save from the countess is the rebellious and oddly identical twin brother she is shocked to meet.

If you know a teen who likes contemporary fantasy and astrology, they just might love their trip to Zodiac.

Thanks for helping me spread the word.

I'm still checking here, but I look for fiction recommendations at other groups, and am not usually inspired to check books out as the result of pitches from their authors.

I was hoping for discussions about the practice and principles of astrology in this group.

Hi margad,
I actually agree with you. I'm really not a spammer, but since it had been so dead here, I thought I'd test the waters a bit. There aren't that many novels about astrology. Do you think that's why the astrology talk is so quiet here?

I'd love to see this group get a bit livelier. Maybe we should throw out a few provocative questions.

What are your favorite astrology texts? Stephen Arroyo's Astrology, Karma & Transformation is mine.

What area of astrology do you want to know more about? I'd like to study Medieval and Renaissance astrology.

I've been participating in some of the astrology groups on myspace, and there are some very knowledgeable people there. I found it rather intimidating...

One of the books they love is The Moment of Astrology. It's a little heavy and I haven't had time to devote to it.

The books I always reach for are
Planets in Transit because I focus most often on current transits

Meet Your Planets because I was Roy's editor and I love that little book

Astrology: A Cosmic Science when I want to find basic technical info fast

and Parkers' Astrology primairly for keywords and because it's so beautiful.

I really need to get my library entered, but how do you find the time??

If you like Planets in Transit, I think you'd love Astrology, Karma & Transformation. It's all about transits, but focuses especially on outer planet transits, which have the strongest effect. My copy of PT is quite battered from use, but I eventually found that the descriptions of the specific transits did not always fit the way I reacted to them. AKT is less cookbook-y, so you won't find an entry on, say, "Pluto trine Mercury," but for that very reason it tends to be more accurate in indicating how a particular transit is likely to affect someone.

The Moment of Astrology looks interesting.

I'll have to check that one out. Thanks for the recommendation.

I know what you mean about the cookbook-y books, although they're sometimes handy when I don't have time to sift through pages and pages of prose.

Do you use any of the astrology websites? I usually use astrodienst for quick info, but I've used bobmarksastrology a good deal, too.

Yes, sometimes the cookbooks are essential. One of my favorites right now is Martin Lass's Chiron. Another is Jan Spiller's Astrology for the Soul, though her meditations on the Moon's Nodes are perhaps too extensive to be considered a cookbook.

I'll have to check out bobmarksastrology. I use astrodienst if I need a longitude-latitude figure that isn't in my software. Another site I like is astroamerica.com, because it has so many obscure astrology texts available. And the Lois Rodden astrodatabank is a great source for birthdates of notable people - when my checkbook gets a little healthier, I want to subscribe.

I've been so busy with my book that I haven't been paying much attention to astrology. I find when I'm in a hurry, it's so much easier to search online for what I want rather than go to my bookshelf. I hate to admit that, being a book person. :-/

Have you had trouble searching online for the topics you mentioned in the other threads?

I actually found the best information on the undecile aspect online, which is what led me to Robert Blaschke's book (see other topic thread). It's just so much easier to absorb information in a reflective way from a book. I always feel a bit rushed online, compared to books. But I know exactly what you mean about online research - I'm usually at my computer when the question arises, and I can just zip to at least a tentative answer on the spot, without even having to get up from my chair. What a lazy creature I am!

Greetings, friends. I finally acquired a copy of The Art of Synthesis. I'm so happy! I really like Alan Leo's books. After going through most of the cook-books, which I'm not putting down at all, I've been delving into ancient astrology sources and books written around the beginning of the 20th century.

What a year. Moon is now in Sag., Sun just entered Gem. My Sun and Asc. No wonder I'm here typing away about whatever is on my mind!

Political intrigue grows. Will the October surprise be Bush's attack (or Israel's) on Iran, for shamelessly political motives, after which he will try to establish martial law to put off election? The eclipse on 9 Degrees of Leo in Aug. is exactly conj. his Mercury, conj. Pluto and Asc.

The more I read about Bush's bio and Osama bin Laden's bio, the more similarities I see in their lives, father's, affluence due to father, etc. Very interesting.

Hope everyone's doing OK.

Very interesting, Kajabel! Wish I'd checked in earlier. There is a vicious cycle when a group gets this quiet; one stops checking in so often, and it just gets quieter.

I'm very interested in the Saturn-Uranus opposition that will be precisely exact on Election Day. Uranus has a lot to do with electronics (and of course rapid change), and Saturn insists on reality. Could it be that someone will try to fix the election with electronic voting machines and get publicly exposed?

Hi, margad! Things got very busy with graduations, summer schedules, and no 'quiet time' for a while. I'm getting back into the swing of things here.

I agree that the Saturn-Uranus opposition will be educational for all of us!

Coincidentally, or synchronistically, today Uranus conjuncts Saturn in J. McCain's chart. So, the debate goes on in Mississippi. I'd hate to see all the efforts of the U. of Miss. be a waste. Strangely, my 13 year old son is also going through that transit right now.

I think Uranus tells us to make changes - drastic, liberating changes. Saturn is the reliable, although dull possibly, foundation or routine we know. Also, John McC. has quite a few uncomfortable aspects concerning health (transits, prog., converse, and sol. return!) He is an incredibly willful soul. Mars and Pluto in the 10th. Temper is a major issue, which we all hear about through others in congress.

Since you posted your reply, I've heard about attempts to de-rail the election in the swing states already. You have probably heard about them by now, too. I can't imagine why we would want to use the machines without any paper trail, except to mess with the results. And we know who usually does the messing.

Thom Hartmann, radio show host and neat cat lover, says the GOP is playing a game of chess; the Dems are playing a game of checkers. It does seem that way at times.

I would think the GOP will do anything to stay in power in order to excuse and pardon any charges against Bush-Cheney and their admin. which might arise. Unfortunately, the candidates are definitely not up to the challenge. Palin, 5 planets in Aquarius(!), as interesting as she is, is not VP or Pres. material. McCain is too old and not in good health. Obama has a wonderful chart as far as stability, efficiency, and leadership with vision. America will make or break with this election.

Do you suppose this economy crisis is the "October Surprise"?

Interesting times...thanks for your reply and I'll check in more often! Take care!

I think Planets in Transit is one of the best. Try Astro-Alchemy by Joan Negus. She gives valuable suggestions on what things can be done during transits to use the energy in a more positive way. Also, Robert Hand's Horoscope Symbols is excellent. He goes into just about everything! I'm amazed at the amount of insight jammed into the book - it's not all that huge.

Take care.

Thanks for posting, Kajabel - and sorry I neglected to check back sooner. It's kind of fun, though, to see what we were saying about the election back in July and September. I think you're absolutely right about the economic crisis being the big October surprise. It fits very neatly with the energy of the Saturn-Uranus opposition. Saturn and Uranus are such different planets, but one thing they have in common is that both are harsh on dishonesty, lies, wishful thinking, etc. The election was a great victory for the truth, and we have also seen a lot of dishonest schemes exposed during this opposition.

I'm excited about the triple conjunction between Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune that is coming up this spring and summer. It will be quite long-lasting, and with the conjunction occurring in Aquarius, it offers a strong prospect of healing for the planet.

Margad,
Some how, skating around various Lt profiles, I ended up at yours and noted that you were a member of Astrology group. So I "clicked" and entered (check "intros").

Well I'm brand new here but I study astrology and probably own a good 75 books or so on the subject. Nice to see others who read astrology. ;)
