Okay, so my library is mostly sorted, with duplicates removed. I've got the tags down to a reasonable number, and I'm liking LibraryThing very much :-) (Leafmarks, alas, is way too slow and not at all intuitive to me, though I do also use Goodreads).

I'd noticed that some 'date read' info had not imported here (or to Leafmarks), so I thought I'd compare my LT list, sorted by date read, with my GR list, sorted in the same way. I quickly discovered that the problem was with books which I had marked as having re-read (so, on Shelfari, they had multiple dates). GR doesn't allow for more than one read date, which is its biggest disadvantage IMO.

The problem isn't with LT but with the Shelfari CSV export which, apparently, didn't include dates at all if there were more than one for any specific book :-( And I re-read books quite a bit. I'm certainly not going to try again and re-import, after spending a lot of time tidying up my LT database.

I mention this not as a complaint or request, but so that other Shelfari refugees can check whether the same applies to them, and - if so inclined - rescue the read dates from Shelfari before it closes. I'm working through mine slowly, checking about a hundred books each day, and adding in dates where necessary, so I hope to have finished before its too late.

Urgh annoying flaw on Shelfari's end, at least you caught it so you can get the info out in time!

Thanks for the heads up, that may explain some of my missing dates as well. I'm also working through cleaning up my import and the bulk edit has been very useful. I've also discovered editing tags and identifying variant author names, so I'm cleaning up lots of stuff that was probably wrong in Shelfari before it got here. The series interface is also helpful. I'm liking LT more and more the more I play with it, and realize how bogged down I get trying to to similar changes in Leafmarks.
