I'm new here :-) It seems that LibraryThing is a bit limited in it's usability for Polish users: there is no translation available (where do I suggest adding a new language for translators?), there is only a single book source (National Library), which in theory should be enough, but seems to be broken at the moment. Can anything be done about this? For example, there's another Book Source that would be worth to have available when searching for books: Karo ( http://karo.umk.pl/karo_en.html ). It does provide access via z39.50 protol and it syndicates data from most public libraries in Poland (including the National Library). Again - where do I suggest adding this? Should I just bug the admins via email?
mareno.pl ( http://www.mareno.pl/prod/MIDN/837054178X )
wysyłkowa.pl ( http://ksiegarnia.wysylkowa.pl/index.php?c=1&restart=1&fraza=837054178X&... )
libre.pl ( http://www.libre.pl/search.php?opt=isbn&sq=837054178X&x=0&y=0 )
AFAIK none of the Polish bookstores provide any kind of API. And the second largest one (Empik.com, after Merlin.pl) doesn't even allow to search by ISBN.
I'm not seeing where you can search Karo via Z39.50. It looks like it searches a bunch of libraries via Z39.50 and aggregates the results. Am I missing something?
this is the union catalog of Polish academic libraries, more reliable than National Library.
I am very glad we are talking about Polish language and Polish sources in LT - that is why I started this group - to see if I am not alone :-) Welcome to the club!
