Hi, Kymm here.
I've put a hold on my elibrary, with 4 ahead of me, as it is not available yet : (
I have access to a small library in the States. If anyone knows of a way to access larger libraries, please let me know!
Thanks. Hope to be able to take part in the discussion.

Hello! I am a stay at home mom of a 3 year old girl and 4 month old boy. I used to read all the time but have had a hard time finding time to read MY books. So, hoping by joining this I can make myself find me time again and read good books in the process! :D

Hello! I've pre-ordered this book via my local bookstore, so I'll get it on the day of the US release. I've read 5 other books by Mitchell. My favorites are The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet and Black Swan Green. I am enthralled by his writing and looking forward to this latest! I'm a stay-at-home caregiver for my grandmother and we both love reading books.

I adored The Bone Clocks and hope to be just as delighted by this one. I'll be reading and lurking. ;)

I am a David Mitchell fan. The first one I read was Cloud Atlas because it was required reading for AP English at our local high school. I then read The Bone Clocks and The Reason I Jump (this is one he translated but did not write.) I was fortunate enough to get a galley of Slade House. Can't wait to begun discussing!

I do have a review already posted on my blog, but I can't wait to follow the discussion here. I promise - no spoilers.

I've put a hold on this book at my library but there are a number of holds ahead of me. Hope I get it in time. I read Cloud Atlas almost exactly a year ago and I was blown away by it.

Also an avid David Mitchell fan and wouldn't miss any new book of his. I've never participated in a group read, but I love book discussions, especially by one of my favorite authors.

I've never participated in something like this either. The Bone Clocks was the first David Mitchell book I've read (got it for Christmas last year) and I've pre-ordered a *signed* copy from a local bookshop. Hope it arrives on time!

This isn't the kind of book I usually read, but I'm going to give it a try because I, too, like Cloud Atlas.

This will be my first David Mitchell, although Cloud Atlas has been on my TBR pile for awhile. I got my digital copy from NetGalley.

Hi ,I am Jeannie from USA. This will be my first time to do a "group read" . ,My first time to read anything that David Mitchell has written, sounds like a charm to read though. I look forward to reading and getting other peoples input. I have to see when I can get with Kindle cloud. If not soon enough, I will purchase through Amazon. Old time book "Soft are hard back covers ! " Hee Hee

>16 mimijean: Welcome, and you'll likely be able to get it faster than those of us who have to wait to head out to the bookstore! It should be available to download sometime tomorrow, October 27th. I would say "midnight tonight" is my guess for exactly when, but I'm not sure if Kindle has their releases set up like that.

In any case, you can go ahead and pre-order it now, if you like, and it should automatically download tomorrow.

Hello! I am Avanders, from New Mexico. I won Slade House through the early reviewer program and am super excited to receive/read it! By Mitchell, I first read Cloud Atlas and was really impressed. Although I also own a handful of other Mitchell books (including Bone Clocks), this will be the 2nd I've actually read...

I'm another one who hasn't read Mitchell before, but found Slade House at the library - I'm two stories in and am loving the style so far.

Howdy, folks! I'm Kate and though I am a LT employee, this is my first foray into OLOB! I read The Bone Clocks in January of this year - and loved it! - so I'm quite looking forward to Slade House. Look forward to chatting with y'all!

I'm new to LT and enjoying it very much. I think I am the only person who read Cloud Atlas and didn't like it. I have Slade House from the library but I haven't started it yet.

I am definitely going to read the book when it comes in the library. I like opening my world to books I wouldn't normally think to read.

Started it yesterday. I went against my resistance to buying hardbacks, but I'm curious about the author and being in the 50 book challenge, I could use a brief book. This will be my first group read also.

Hello! I've been a Mitchell fan since Cloud Atlas, and I've read everything he's done so far with the exception of Number 9 Dream. I felt I had to have one in the queue so I would always have one to look forward to, but he's proven himself prolific enough in the last couple of years that I think I'll go ahead and dive into that one soon, with the confidence that I won't have to wait too long for his next one. If he keeps up writing stories on twitter, I'll have that to look forward to as well. I love the sense of a giant shared fictional world throughout his work, and how the characters of one novel brush up against the characters, or relations of characters, in another. Since I grew up steeped in the shared universe stories told through Marvel Comics, I can't help thinking of this as the Mitchellverse. I almost think he could get away with the placement of an asterix when a character shows up, leading to a note from the editor at the bottom of the page explaining his first appearance in another novel.

MrsB2005 I'm a new-ish mom (to an 8-month old), and I work for LibraryThing full-time, so I feel you on finding time to read my own books. I can't imagine finding the time with TWO kids. Good luck, and I hope you enjoy the book!

I'm Peggy in North Carolina. I have my copy of Slade House (ER ARC - WOO HOO - thank you, thank you!!), but I had already started Career of Evil (borrowed from the library) when my copy arrived. I have to finish it, but then I'm ready for the ride.
I'll say that Cloud Atlas blew me away, but I was disappointed a bit in The Bone Clocks. I was hoping for something with a bit more substance. Believe me, I have nothing against great entertainment, but sections of *TBC* were not even that for me. Never mind! I'm eager to get going.

Thanks for the incentive to read this! I’d read Number9Dream a number of years ago, and I’m ready for more Mitchell. I’ve got a library copy that two of us in the house are reading. So far, very spooky!

Kristi here, for our next OLOB! This is my 2nd OLOB reading, and I gulped this tasty little book down in 4 sittings. Looking forward to seeing how other folks liked this book. This is my first work by David Mitchell, though I've been dying to read Cloud Atlas for some time. I can now add The Bone Clocks to that list as well. :)

I am Jonathan, from New York City. I am late to the party; but I look forward to reading this book.

I am also looking forward to reacquainting myself with LibraryThing. I have not used the site much since 2009; a re-exploration is long overdue.
