Do you live life differently?
Are your reading habits different?
Do you travel, if so, what happens to your reading, what do you take with you?
Gardening tips or travesties?
What books do you plan to read this summer? What books have you read already this summer?
Actually, one would think that I get a lot more reading done than during the school year. I don't find that to be true, though. I read about the same amount of books/pages. I think that is because I'm very structured August-May. I eat dinner at a certain time, clean the kitchen, and retire to my bedroom for reading/and or computer, as I rarely watch TV. So for 5 nights a week I read at least 2-3 hours per evening. In the summer, my reading is more random as I can be outside (we have a pool), have the yearly washing the windows, cleaning closets, in the gardens and visiting with family and friends.
My husband and I do try to take a vacation away from home each year. It doesn't always happen, but it usually does. Our vacations are usually to historical places or places connected in some way to history. Neither one of likes resorts, however we both love the beaches on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Last year we visited Charleston, SC, for the first time and then went to Savannah before heading home. All I can say: it was too hot to enjoy, but we are "trapped" into June/July/August vacations due to my schedule.
I usually only take my Kindle on vacation, as I have one of the paperwhites that can be read in the sun.
Since June 1 I've read:
The Shoemaker's Wife great read!
Hitler's Last Days by Bill O'Reilly too much of a repeat of The Death of Patton--no new material
1964 By John Farner free e-book, meh.
The Stand by Stephen King
Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier
Irena Sendler: Mother of the Children of the Holocaust
To Dance With the White Dog
To Read in July:
Finish off my Longfellow Anthology
The Husband's Secret for RL bookclub
other books not yet determined!
