Hi! I'm new to this site and very glad to find you. Decades ago (I'm in my 50's), I read a story that I loved, but I haven't been able to find it's title or anything, despite serious Googling. Here's what I remember.
1. A brother and sister start dreaming the same dream each night.
2. Each night, the dream is a problem or puzzle they have to solve and/or survive before they can escape and wake up.
3. Each night, the dream is bigger and more difficult; it gets increasingly dangerous.
4. The dreams are likened to nautilus chambers that you have to break through the wall to get to the next biggest one. The word "nautilus" is important for some reason.
That's all I can remember! Help!!! -- Jean

I love your plot description, but I'm sorry to say it rings no bells with me. It reminds me a little of Into the Dream (1979) and Invitation to the Game (1990), but neither are good matches to your details.
You're thinking you probably read this in the 60s or 70s? And it was a US publication? Was the fantasy set in contemporary times? Do you remember the rough age of the siblings, like teenagers who could drive or younger children who couldn't?

Thanks so much. Into the Dream is a similar premise, nice find! But you're right, that's not quite it. I THINK it was in the 70s and it was probably US publication. Yes, it was a fantasy set in contemporary times, nothing historical to my memory. They were younger kids, probably between 9 and 15? Thanks for your help!

Maybe The Diamond in the Window by Jane Langton? The description says it's about two children solving puzzles and there is a "Chambered Nautilus." It was published in 1973.
