My son should be writing this post rather than me, having read I think almost all of Doyle's work, but I thought I might mention the author of the Sherlock Holmes Adventures on this forum. I do not esteem his work as highly as say Scott or Stevenson but probably he is more well read than those two combined these days. I do know that Doyle was influenced by Stevenson, especially the Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, set in London which had a profound effect on his career.
My own paltry reading of Doyle amounts to a couple of novels alas, something that I need at some to point to remedy.
