I recently ran across a used copy of Hitler's High Seas Fleet by Richard Humble.

This excellent read is Weapons Book No. 23 in Ballantine's Illustrated History of the Violent Century.

This same title may have also been part of Ballantine's Illustrated History of World War II.

Great little books, I had most of them in my library way back when. I guess (at that time) Afrika Korps was my fav.

I have a bunch of these which I started collecting when they were first released, which was a long, (sigh) long time ago. I have come across them in used book stores occasionally, but I usually pass on getting them because I can't remember if I have them or not!

I also have a number of the Ballantine's Illustrated History of the Car as well. Same format and equally as collectable.

These were the first military books I collected. I agree with Hitler's High Seas Fleet. I also liked The Japanese High Seas Fleet also by Humble. Barbarossa, Afrika Corps and Kursk were also early acquisitions.

I've been running across the Ballantines in a couple of used book stores I like to frequent. I've been picking them up at $2 to $4 per. Hard to pass on them at that price.

Re: 4

I have not seen The Japanese High Seas Fleet.

I will be on the lookout for this title.

Although I often see low condition used copies of the various Ballantine series for a few dollars at local bookstores, like new and new copies are expensive ($25+++) from various on-line providers.

Bir Hakim was another I liked especially since I knew next to nothing about that aspect of the Desert War.

The Winter War: Russia Against Finland

A good introduction to this campaign.

#7, For my money the best introduction to this little-known (outside of Finland, anyway) campaign. My favourite by a mile.
