OK, this is my attempt to revive interest in this foundering group.

I'm reading Kevin Hearne's The Iron Druid Chronicles. I've read the first two books, Hounded and Hexed and have the next 2 loaded on my Kindle. The main character, Atticus, the last of the druids, is hiding from some ancient gods. He's set up a New Age bookstore/tea shop in Arizona and is doing well for himself until his enemy finds him. The book has a similar feel to Jim Butcher's Dresden Files. Atticus is basically a good guy and his "talking" Irish wolfhound provides plenty of comic relief.

The other book I read last month was Hot Blooded by Amanda Carlson. It's the sequel to Full Blooded. The series is about the only female born-werewolf and the prophesies of doom that surround her. The first book was good, but the second was more series-filler - not bad, but not strong enough to stand on it's own as a novel.

So what are you reading this summer?

So far I have the entire Nightside series by Simon R.Green. I loved this series so much. John Taylor is a private investigator who lives in the Nightside. The Nightside is the dark, magical underbelly of London where every fantastical being you can think of lives, and where nightmares come to life. Every dirty pleasure can be found. The series chronicles John Taylor's various adventures in the Nightside. There are a lot of other lovable and hated characters as well. I started reading it to find something similar to the Dresden Files, and this did not disappoint. Its close enough to satisfy the Dresden craving, but also interesting enough to enjoy on its own.

I also started reading the Sandman Slim series by Richard Kadrey. This follows the story of James Stark, who 11 years ago was sent to Hell. Well he crawled his way back out, and now he wants revenge. He is a bad ass anti-hero. It follows his exploits as he tries to get revenge for what happened to him, and the murder of the love of his life. Lots of twists and turns and things you just don't see coming. This also reminds he a little bit of The Dresden Files. Although, this series is a lot grittier with way more violence and profanity. I love this series as well.

Currently I have taken a little break from Urban Fantasy and started reading the Songs of Fire and Ice series by George R.R. Martin. I am on the second book, A Clash of Kings. I find the series very enjoyable, although the are very long reads.
