I just opened my account here today and have been trying to learn how it works. Is there a way to use this program to check books out to my students, or is it primarily to help you know what you have? My 4th graders are not returning my books, and right now I don't have a way of keeping up with who has what. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

You can use your own catalogue in any way you like. LT is a book cataloguing site so when you have catalogued your books you can always use the 'comments' section to note who has what. Take the tour to find out more about the site - http://www.librarything.com/tour/

ETA - If you don't see a section for comments in your library you may be using one of the set-ups that don't include this feature but if you try different 'views' you will soon come across the relevant ones. Please do ensure that you don't put your remarks under 'reviews' as this is a public feature for reviews only and not private comments. Hope this helps and welcome to the site.
