I've nominated two so far: Random Passage by Bernice Morgan for the Atlantic Region and Kiss of the Fur Queen by Thomson Highway for the Prairies/North.

I nominated Kiss of the Fur Queen too! I'd love to see that as a Canada Reads book.

I nominated Waiting for Columbus by Thomas Trofimuk for the Prairies/North.

Thanks for posting. I have to say I'm not particularly thrilled with most of the selections. There are a few that are in my TBR, and I expect them to be good, but I'm not sure I can vote for them at this point.
Anyone have a suggestion on what to vote for under the BC category? None of those ones entice me.

I hadn't read ANY of the BC ones! That kind of surprised me a bit. I suspect Obasan will be a strong favourite.

I think my vote for BC will be Obasan. I've read about 4 of the others and I think Obasan is the one that has stuck with me the longest. (For those of you who haven't read it the story is about a Japanese family forcibly relocated from the coast to Lethbridge during World War II.)

Can someone please explain to me why Late Nights on Air is in the Prairies/North category? Isn't Elizabeth Hay an Ontario-based writer?

LovelyPride - I gave my thoughts on the other thread. Others are free to chime in. You may also want to check out the Reading Globally group here at LT. Questions like yours are discussed endlessly, and there is no one answer.

Since I intend to read all 5 of the books ultimately chosen, I voted for 5 I haven't read yet.

I correctly guessed all of the Quebec books and am therefore ridiculously pleased with myself :P
