Hi everyone! :)

I know sometime back we had a "thread" (only slight pun intended. *grin*) that talked about which movies we liked to watch while knitting...

Which made me wonder: Do any of you just like to listen to music instead for awhile during your knitting?? If so, anything in particular??
I'm a big Tori Amos fan, so lately I've been happily listening to her enchanting voice while knitting.

Much bliss & happy knitting! :)

If I put my headphones on, it is generally for audiobooks. Currently, I've been working through The Chronicles of Narnia. Something about having Kenneth Branagh's, Jeremy Northam's, and Patrick Stewart's voices in my ears as I work on socks, sweaters, and shawls is a lovely thing.

i am in love with podcast - particularly knitting podcasting. there is a wonderful one by a lady 'casting from the coast of whales called "cast on" that i highly recommend, but there are other good ones as well. some of them are for fiber arts in general, or for other specific fiber arts. syne mitchell does a good one for weavers. so i listen to those a lot while i am knitting, particularly if i am in a coffee shop or something.
oh, and podcasts are FREE to download and so is the program that runs them on your computer. that is my favorite thing.

Tom Waits!

I listen to the lyrics (which are brilliant) more when I'm knitting. And Waits' music doesn't invite singing along that will lead to mistakes in the pattern.

Plus, there's something hypnotic about knitting and Waits' music that goes together.

It makes me laugh to think what Waits might say if he knew old ladies were knitting to "Jockey Full of Bourbon."

I'm glad to see someone else thinks the way I do: knit and read at the same time. All right, we are being read to but don't quibble.

What could be better? Knitting and reading? A cup of tea and, of course, chocolate.

Haha, I like the picture you paint, Margie. My partner & I listen to the Harry Potter audiobooks compulsively, and of course I knit simultaneously. I think Harry, Ron and Hermione have gotten me through three pairs of socks, three pullovers, a cardigan and a shawl at this point. Maybe after the final book comes out we'll have to find something new to listen to. :-)

3 >That's Brenda Dayne's "Cast On" podcast - I'm a regular contributor and she'll be tickled to know she was mentioned on Librarything.

I like opera for knitting. I did a blog entry once pairing arias with a different types of knitting and different situation - including ripping back mistakes.

My favorite knitting music is "Tehillim" by Steve Reich; followed by any of his other process music, followed by (eek!)Philip Glass.

I also really enjoy knitting to Lloyd Rogers' music for "The Little Prince", which is available online and creates the right mood for winter gift knitting.

I don't really knit to music - neither thing is sufficient unto itself to quiet my hyperactive brain, except maybe lace, which drives me bats.

I do like to knit while watching tv (or plays, when I can get away with it), and audio books are great.
