I just thought I would let you know that the Reading Globally Group has a year-long theme read for 2012, called “Classics in their own countries”.
The aim is to discover books from other countries, that we might know little about (although translated in English or other languages) but that are considered as classics where they have been written.

For the moment, there is a threat for recommendations, available here: Classics in Their Own Country: Ideas for the Year-Long 2012 Theme Read
The discussion threats are likely to be set up this week (I’ll post the links here).

As promised, here is the link to each region-specific threads for the discussions on "Classics in their Own Countries" across the Globe! Each thread starts with a large number of recommendations, classified by country. A great way to increase your "TBR" category!

- Africa and Middle East
- Asia and Oceania
- Latin America and Caribbean
- Europe and Turkey

Enjoy the reading and the wandering!

I was thining to myself when I read this earlier that clearly here's a group that's bitten off more than it can chew. But then I visited and learned a thing or two, so - hat's off to you!
