LibraryThing's "On this day" tells me it's John Banville's birthday today. To celebrate, i picked up a first edition of the great man's The Book of Evidence in Cathach Books in Dublin.

Cathach is a lovely browse. I've picked up some George A. Birminghams there. It is quite a while since I've scoured the basement. Must drop in before Christmas.

Have you tried The Loft Bookshop in Abbey Street? It's upstairs in The Twisted Pepper coffee shop, just across the road from the Arnotts coffee shop.

Yep, the Loft is a great place and just a stroll away from Chapters on Parnell St

I know of no place in Texas where one can walk from one used bookstore to another. That is one item on the list of requirements for the ideal place to live.

Well, that would be a walk, I have to say. I'd hate the return trip, with all those used books in my arms!

Os.

Some of the shops offer customers handy carrier bags. That would make the walk slightly easier.
