Bit surprised there isn't already a thread like this here. Seems like every other group I'm a member of has one. Anyway, just got back from a local independent used bookstore where I picked up a couple books.

the Seven-Per-Cent Solution
Sherlock Holmes: Fact or Fiction?

Got both for less than $10.

i love 'The Misadventures', if only for the John Lennon story 'The Singular Experience of Miss Anne Duffield', one of the most remarkable ever penned.

i recently picked up a couple of pastiches by Barry Day... 'The Seven Deadly Sins Murders' and 'The Copycat Murders'. i'm not familiar with this author, nor am i expecting too much, but he has a series of Holmes stories so i figured i'd check out a few.
plus they were cheap! :)

Also from a Borders carcass, A Monstrous Regiment of Women and A Letter of Mary by Laurie R King. This series is a lot of fun!

Picked up at used bookstore yesterday, not a bad haul.

The Revenge of the Hound by Michael Hardwick
More Holmes for the Holidays edited by Martin H. Greenberg
The Whitechapel Horrors by Edward B. Hanna
Beyond Baker Street edited by Michael Harrison
The West End Horror by Nicholas Meyer

I'd planned to pick up a copy of 'More Holmes for the Holidays' online in November anyway, so I lucked out finding it locally. 'West End Horror' has also been on my to read list for some time.

Reading the Mary Russell series by Laurie R. King for the first time. Sent away for my next installment, O Jerusalem, paid for a mmpb, and what came in the mail?--- A very, very nice first edition that also happened to be signed! Not worth a whole lot, but really made my day. Now I need a reading copy.

I had a gift card for HPB, and this week picked up:

The Giant Rat of Sumatra by Richard L. Boyer
The Man From hell by Barrie Roberts
The Confidential Casebook of Sherlock Holmes Edited by Marvin Kaye
Sherlock Holmes The Published Apocrypha Edited by Jack Tracy.

Needless to say the Giant Rat of Sumatra has jumped to the top of my to be read pile for Sherlockiana.

Wow. That is pretty awesome!

As for me, a couple of weeks ago I acquired the first season of "Sherlock" and now I am reduced to a squealing fangirl who is banging her head up against the wall waiting for Season 2. It is that good. I haven't been this excited about an interpretation of Sherlock Holmes since the inimitable Jeremy Brett.

This past week I acquired A Study in Sherlock: stories inspired by the Holmes canon edited by Laurie King and Leslie Klinger. It has stories by Alan Bradley, Tony Broadbent, Lee Child, Colin Cotterill, Neil Gaiman, Laura Lippman, Dana Stabenow, Charles Todd, Jacqueline Winspear and others.

I haven't started it yet, but some of these writers are among my favorites, so I am expecting some good stories.

i just picked up a book which seems to be scarce as apparently nobody else here has it.
it is 'A Christmas to Forget at 221B', by Hugh A. Mulligan...

"Containing An Original, previously untold, tale of Sherlock Holmes's Christmas Now Revealed To Uncle Cedric by His dear friend Dr. Jack, Better known as John H. Watson MD"

i might save this one until the holidays and read it along with our annual ritual of 'The Blue Carbuncle'.

#12> Eris, I think "Sherlock" is absolutely fantastic and I am really looking forward to Season 2. Actually, I think Benedict Cumberbatch would be great even as a traditional SH.

I just picked up Sherlock in Orbit, stories by science fiction authors. I haven't dug into it yet, but I recognize and like several of the authors, so it should at least be interesting.

My Birthday turned out to be a good day in the used bookstores:

Sherlock Holmes: Breath of God by Guy Adams
The Ectoplasmic Man by Daniel Stashower
Dr. Jekyll and Mr Holmes by Loren D. Estleman
The Star of India by Carol Bugge
The Beekeepers Apprentice by Laurie King (Again..sigh forgot I'd already bought it)
Castle Rouge by Carole Nelson Douglas
Mr Fairlies Final Journey by August Derleth (Solar Pons Book 7)

and I treated myself to: The Complete Conan Doyle Sherlock Holmes BBC Dramatization (sorry the touchstone is borked). All of the stories as full cast radio plays recorded by the BBC in 1989 with Clive Merrison as Holmes and Michael Williams as Watson. 64 CD set. Been wanting that for a couple of years, and finally the price was discounted, my wife gave me an Amazon coupon, and I actually had some money. I'm looking forward to loading it up on my mp3 player :-)
