Maybe taking our soldier, returning from deployment, to the UP for some rockhounding and beautiful Michigan scenery. Yes!

We're staying here instead of moving back to California.

Encouraging my Michigan relatives to visit the much less humid mountains of SW VA!

Heat broke for a couple of days, got some much needed rain, and then came back to revisit for a couple of more days.

Found out that Lake Superior can be warm! We went swimming on both sides of the Keweenaw Peninsula in the UP. We also found a great coffee shop in Calumet to sit and read. It's called 5th and Elm Coffee House and is housed in an old Marathon gasoline station. Check it out at http://5thandelmcoffeehouse.com/
Interesting reads for my Great Lakes vacation include Deep Water Passage: A Spiritual Journey at Midlife and the newer A 1000-Mile Walk on the Beach by Loreen Niewenhuis.
