***Spoiler Alert**Spoiler Alert***

Muggles..... BEWARE!

Abr 17, 2007, 10:47 am

What's the question again?

Abr 17, 2007, 10:56 am

hee hee hee when you toss Floo Powder into fire, what color does the fire turn?

Abr 17, 2007, 11:17 am

Abr 17, 2007, 11:27 am

#4---> Yep!

Someone post one!

475 from WC III is still up for grabs too!

Abr 17, 2007, 11:46 am

>475 pollysmith: Sir Nicholas de Mimsy Porpington?

>501 pollysmith: Protruding front teeth.

What magical creature is confused for a hedgehog?

Abr 17, 2007, 12:07 pm

Abr 17, 2007, 12:19 pm

Abr 17, 2007, 3:01 pm

Well, I couldn't use the floo network. My chimney's blocked, remember, Suge?

I need to read posts. Just announcing I'm here.

Abr 17, 2007, 3:03 pm

#6 ExVivre: RE #501

Abr 17, 2007, 3:09 pm

awwww man! I forgot, Kerian! What to do.... what to do..... I know! You can borrow my Ford Anglia (nicely equipped with an invisibility booster for qualified buyers)!

#8---> Polly I want to say muddy brown, but I'm almost sure that they were green! grrrrrr..... is peat a word?

What creature likes fire?

Abr 17, 2007, 3:11 pm

Okay, I'll fly here then.

Someone doesn't have a book today! :) I see that Grrrrr again - bad day, or frustrated? I can look peat up if you want. (How did you want to use that word?)

Editado: Abr 17, 2007, 3:17 pm

Hi all! I missed everyone! And we've moved into our 4th challenge. :)

#15, suge> would you be referring to a phoenix or the fire-loving salamanders?

What do bowtruckles eat? Bonus: Where do they live--specifically?

Abr 17, 2007, 3:29 pm

Bowtruckles eat wood lice or Fairy eggs if they can get them and they tend to live in wand trees

Abr 17, 2007, 3:30 pm

#17----> Lefty!!! I was refering to the fire salamader, a pyro's favorite pet!

Abr 17, 2007, 3:33 pm

Which dragons did each champion have to get past?

#16---> peat is the word that comes to mind when I think about Grawps eyes. I'm too lazy to google it.... yawwwwwn.

Abr 17, 2007, 3:33 pm

Yes, Polly!

I am rather fond of the fire salamanders. And yes, I am a bit of a pyro. I blame it on my grandfather, who had nightly fires in his backyard. I couldn't stay away. I love fire. (not to creep anyone out) ;)

Abr 17, 2007, 3:34 pm

Do you mean peat moss? That's the only way I know of peat.

Abr 17, 2007, 3:37 pm

Wiki says this about peat:

Peat is an accumulation of partially decayed vegetation matter. Peat forms in wetlands or peatlands, variously called bogs, moors, muskegs, pocosins, mires, and tropical swamp forests.

Not what you wanted, huh? It may have another meaning.

Abr 17, 2007, 3:44 pm

well no not peat or peat moss.
Let me see.... Diggory-swedish short snout.....delacour-chinese fireball
harry had the hungarian horntail and Krum had the welsh green this is a guess, no book

Abr 17, 2007, 3:50 pm

# 24---> You have all the Dragons, but other than Harry's Hungarian Horntail, you mismatched the champs.

Abr 17, 2007, 3:51 pm

Abr 17, 2007, 4:25 pm

Abr 17, 2007, 4:37 pm

Not at all!

Abr 17, 2007, 5:58 pm

>23 Kerian: Completely off-topic, but you can get small blocks of peat from Ireland to burn like incense and it has a wonderful aroma. I got mine from Irish Fest in Milwaukee, but I'm sure it's available online somewhere.

Which of Harry's roommates might have a peat-burning stove?

Abr 17, 2007, 5:59 pm

>30 ExVivre: BTW, I know it's a lame question, but I had to get on-topic somehow. :D

Abr 17, 2007, 6:24 pm

#31 why seamus o'course!

Abr 17, 2007, 9:50 pm

---> You can get peat for burning at our Irish festival here in Columbus also;) tho I have to admit I'm not that fond of the aroma. It makes my eyes water! LOL

Abr 18, 2007, 12:48 am

which classmates does Harry meet at the Quiddich World Cup?

Abr 18, 2007, 7:07 am

Harry meets seamus, Cho,mmmmmm....? His own class or anyone from the school? he saw cedric and........Oh I can't think this early

Abr 18, 2007, 10:41 am

He also met Dean and Draco

Abr 18, 2007, 12:25 pm

#30 ExVivre:
I can't even burn incense - it's just not safe with three cats in my home. It's a shame, as my work sells oils to burn that I could give customers personal testimonies to if only I used them.

#34 suge:
Classmates as in people in the same year? I know he already left the school by then, but he meet Oliver Wood there. Technically, you can even count Percy, then! :) He did after all show up later than the others! :)

Abr 18, 2007, 12:45 pm

Abr 18, 2007, 12:56 pm

Q: How many times did Dumbledore tell Hermione to turn the time turner in PoA?

Abr 18, 2007, 1:00 pm

Abr 18, 2007, 1:30 pm

What comic book does Ron like?

Editado: Abr 18, 2007, 1:33 pm

He likes comic books? Grief, I need to reread! I wish GoF would hurry and arrive - I mooched the UK one and have been waiting four-in-a-half weeks since it was sent.

Abr 18, 2007, 1:43 pm

Oh were in the same boat.... I need to buy a new copy of my GoF because mine is a disgrace and I don't want to be seen trying to read an accordion.

The book in which the comic is mentioned is not GoF.

Abr 18, 2007, 1:59 pm

Marvin __something_ the Mad Muggle? I think that's in CoS.

Editado: Abr 18, 2007, 2:01 pm

My copy that I have now isn't doing so well, either. I question how many rereads it can take before I need to repair it.

I really wasn't sure which book it was it. I just meant that's where I've stopped in my process of rereading the series. I've been wanting to get back in the series, but am stalled till I get my delivery. (I'm reading UK now, and US in June/July, just for the fun of it. I know there aren't real differences, just like the different words. :)

Abr 18, 2007, 2:03 pm

Wow, I'd totally forgotten about that! Good question, suge. Waiting's guess sounds good.. I'll wait and see if that's right.

What happened to Eloise when she tried to rid herself of acne?

Abr 18, 2007, 2:04 pm

#46----> Yes! Marvin Miggs the Mad Muggle from CoS!

Abr 18, 2007, 2:05 pm

$48 lefty:
She had to go to the Hospital wing, didn't she?

Abr 18, 2007, 2:08 pm

Kerian: She did... what did she do to herself?

Abr 18, 2007, 2:08 pm

#48---> Y thank you! Yours is also an excellent ? I've no idea!

Abr 18, 2007, 2:09 pm

#51 lefty:
Opps, I put a $ sign instead of a # sign in post 50, sorry about that, lefty! :)
I honestly can't remember. Partial credit?

Abr 18, 2007, 2:11 pm

I remember that she tried to curse hers of.... did her nose fall of or something?

Abr 18, 2007, 2:12 pm

Now I remember her nose got off center!

Abr 18, 2007, 2:13 pm

#54 suge:
I wanted to say something like that, but thought it sounded crazy. I imagined someone laughing. I'm glad to see someone post that! :)

Is she right, lefty?

Abr 18, 2007, 2:13 pm

#55 suge:
Oh, is that all? :(

Abr 18, 2007, 2:13 pm

Actually, suge, you were right the first time. She cursed her nose off. It was fixed back on for her... perhaps off-center though!

Abr 18, 2007, 2:15 pm

Yeah.... I remembered what Ron said!

Abr 18, 2007, 2:15 pm

#58 lefty:

That was cool how you got that one! :)

Abr 18, 2007, 2:16 pm

# 60---> Thank you! Yay me!

Abr 18, 2007, 2:23 pm

Q: What job does the father of the Creevy brothers have?

Abr 18, 2007, 2:59 pm

Stupid question maybe.... but was he a photographer? 8^/

Abr 18, 2007, 3:00 pm

Nope! It would seem as though he was, wouldn't it?

Abr 18, 2007, 3:01 pm

Abr 18, 2007, 3:12 pm

I should ask my grandmother. She says they used to have a milkman.

Abr 18, 2007, 3:13 pm

I barely remember milkman but I guess they are still widely used in england i have no idea how much they would make.

Abr 18, 2007, 3:14 pm

#83 polly:
Agreed! She could be over there on the challenge group listing how many she will read in a year. :) Someone should make her name into a username and share it with multiple people so they can all put their books read together and list them as having been read by her. :)

Abr 18, 2007, 3:15 pm

Abr 18, 2007, 4:03 pm

Abr 18, 2007, 4:04 pm

I can't recall if it was said in all the books, but it was in book #s 1, 3, and 6 for sure.

Abr 18, 2007, 4:06 pm

Editado: Abr 18, 2007, 4:09 pm

Abr 19, 2007, 1:37 pm

I've been worried that myshelves was caught in a storm because she'd mentioned that lousy weather. I'm a worry-wart sometimes, sorry. Have you all seen the pictures of all those floods lately? I'm going to post a message on her profile so when she turns up in LT, she'll let us know she's okay.

Abr 19, 2007, 1:47 pm

#114: Suge! I didn't know you're a mom! I've been seeing a lot of 'little people' lately, and with my sister that I've been caring for turning twelve soon, she seems so grown up! It makes me a little sad.

Where is everyone? Off having lives? Polly, you're life is here, you said so! :)

Abr 19, 2007, 2:00 pm

Yes, I'm the proud mother of a four-year-old Yorkie. His name is Cocoa Puff.

Currently, he's vacationing in the Dominican Republic with my mom, chasing lizards and barking at the mopeds. He loves it there!

I left a message for Myshelves.... I hope she's OK!

Editado: Abr 19, 2007, 2:04 pm

#167 suge:

His name is Cocoa Puff.

Um, really? :) Does he like breakfast cereal?
Makes me think of that woman on Friends who named her daugther Cocoa.

Abr 19, 2007, 2:11 pm

#164 suge:
Wild guess: the twelfth floor?

Abr 19, 2007, 2:11 pm

He's a Yorkie so he doesn't know how wrong I've done him!

His favorite breakfast cereal, ironically, is Froot Loops.

I'm a little more educated now on how to raise a dog so I don't feed him all the junk I used to when we were younger.

He's pretty fat now (almost 20 pounds!) so we have him on a special diet. It doesn't stop him from begging for his half of your meal when you eat!

Abr 19, 2007, 2:12 pm

169--> Noooope!

Abr 19, 2007, 2:13 pm

Oh, it's a dog! I thought you meant Yorkie as in something to do with being a New Yorker! How stupid was that? :)

One of my cats like toast crust, and another likes to droll on pizza. Yuck!

Abr 19, 2007, 2:15 pm

#171: No?! Hmm....I was always a little confused by that building, over the matter of what floor people entered on and what not. I hate public computers - dude next to me keeps reading what I write. Back off, dude!

Abr 19, 2007, 2:21 pm

You want me to beat him up for you? You know I'm just looking for someone to beat up. All the time.

When I play my PSP in the train I hate it when people look at my screen! I want to shout "Get your own (insert expletive here)!"

My Cocoa is sooo much more than a mere chien! Take it back!

Abr 19, 2007, 2:24 pm

I know it! :) Beat up the cat? Poor Aloft! That one's my sister's. People say animals can't expereince some feelings, but I tell you she misses my sister. What's a 'mere chien'? Um, taken back.

Abr 19, 2007, 2:35 pm

Suge? You there?

Okay, well, I have to go to a class. Bye!

Abr 19, 2007, 2:52 pm

Bye K! I was reading the rhymic wonders of Cockney.

a chien is a dog in Frech - I did learn something, huh?! yey!

I meant beat up the guy! I would never beat up a cat! Even I won't sink that low!

Trust me (and Aunt Marge), animals pine when you are gone.

Abr 19, 2007, 3:09 pm

I thought myshelves mentioned being gone or otherwise engaged for a while...but i can't find the post or message. I think she's ok, but it's good to check. It'll make her feel wanted and loved. Let's flood her inbox!

Abr 19, 2007, 3:32 pm

Let's do it!!!

Editado: Abr 19, 2007, 3:48 pm

#177 suge:
Oh, sure then! I have to take airborn when I get home 'cause of him. I do not get sick. I had my first cold a few weeks ago for the first time in a very long time, and don't want another one.

Oh, dear. Dare I see how many messages you've both given her? I made the one I sent public. I noticed Suge's first one was private, though (invisible). Well, I'll give her another post later. Class starts in 15 min.

Edited: Of course our pets aren't animals, they're very human. Just ask the three cats that 'own' me. :)

Abr 19, 2007, 5:23 pm

Hey, y'all are something else! My comment page will start looking like Moaning Myrtle's flooded bathroom. :-) Thank you for the warm fuzzies!

Like littlegeek, I was "away having a life." Not an exciting one --- I've just been forcing myself to stay away from playing HP trivia, and from other internet fun, while trying to catch up on a bunch of boring things I've been neglecting. (And I'll be getting back to boring stuff before too long; still a big backlog.) You moved while I wasn't looking! Glad you got my little eklectik fireplace thingie hooked up to the floo network!

No way I'll ever catch up or sort all of this out. Did anyone ever answer the one about Hermione reading about the other schools? The book was something like "An Evaluation of Magical Education in Europe."

Abr 19, 2007, 5:59 pm

Yes me too My life is here but sometimes outside influences like, cleaning ,cooking and picking up hubby interfere! I have no idea what floor thats on Floor nine?

eeeekkkk it burns BURNS *falling on the floor twitching in agony*

Abr 19, 2007, 7:55 pm

This is almost as drama laden as Grey's Anatomy!

Abr 19, 2007, 7:57 pm

LOL you should see us in person together, littlegeek!
Hagrid went pale and sweaty when Fudge came to take him to Akazban (or however you spell it)

Abr 19, 2007, 8:26 pm

#227 MEM82 & #233 littlegeek:
You both watch Grey's Anatomy? I love it! I was so angry twenty minutes ago when I found out I have to miss this week's episode because of work! Might I ask either of you about it tomorrow? We never know when they'll play a rerun of it. I really want to know what happens!

Abr 19, 2007, 8:31 pm

sure you can ask me! It's the only show I watch on TV so I'm always super annoyed if I have to miss it or grr see a rerun. 8)

Abr 19, 2007, 8:32 pm

sorry you have to work, that's rotten!

Abr 19, 2007, 8:39 pm

Yeah, it was call in shift, too. I hate those! It means I'll be on the last shift, and have to do the MSR report. Basically, I'll have to go in the stockroom and pull everything we sold today to put back on the sales floor. It's a small store, but that report is impossible to complete in the little time given to do it in. I just hope I work with either of my two nice supervisors versus the two who would get mean about it.

Abr 19, 2007, 8:42 pm

yuck that does sound like the pits but hopefully you get the nice sups.8) And possibly a huge raise next time around for you loyalty to the company!!

Abr 19, 2007, 8:47 pm

That would be nice. Textbooks seem to get more expensive all the time. I think I make more than minimum wage in CA, but not by much. (Maybe a quarter more.) Well, I have to get ready. I'll wear all black to show my lack of desire to be there. (Kidding - that's what I'm supposed to wear. :) Thanks in advance for letting me question you about the show later! :)

Abr 19, 2007, 9:24 pm

Or maybe Hagrid gets pale when he sees Fudge and "them" (members of the Committee of Disposal duheecky Magical Beasts something something) coming down the hill to murder Bucky?

Pick one, Pick one!

Abr 19, 2007, 9:25 pm

In PoA, btw....

Abr 19, 2007, 9:26 pm

181---> Yey!

Abr 20, 2007, 6:56 am

232- yes that was it darling!

Abr 20, 2007, 6:56 am

Mensagem removida pelo autor.

Abr 20, 2007, 9:00 am

I've been awake since 2am CA time, wait four hours for want of sleep, and find no one here?! :) I'll just have to quiz my cat, who's very happy I'm up.

Abr 20, 2007, 9:04 am

I've been here pracitically alone for hours! now i have to go soon. is your cat a HP fan?

Editado: Abr 20, 2007, 9:08 am

Um, sure. :) He's close to Crookshanks coloring, and loves other cats as I've made him be an indoor-only one. Poor guy, I just don't want him poisoned like my last one.

Edited to say I forgot he has a wand (though it does have a colorful string attached to it). He's as fond of it as girls are of dolls, I swear. :)

Abr 20, 2007, 9:09 am

Name? my cat is Kitty but I had one a few years ago named harry potter

Editado: Abr 20, 2007, 9:12 am

I have a cat named Kitty! That's the white one with some grey (I swear she's part siamese). Harry Potter huh? :)

His name is Aloof and his sister's name is Aloft. My mom's idea. :)

Abr 20, 2007, 9:13 am

Some one poisoned your cat! That's horrible!

I used to date this psycho who liked to hurt cats. A serial killer in the making.

Ok, here's one in memorandum...

Who got tripped by a cat and what was the cat's name?

Abr 20, 2007, 9:17 am

We have a lot a strays in the neighborhood. It was some idiot's "good idea" for a solution to the problem.

Mrs. Figg got tripped in the street by one of her cats, didn't she? I can't remember which cat.
...Wow, typos galore. Good thing I'm reading what I write carefully. :)

Abr 20, 2007, 9:21 am

Yep Mrs Figg....

Any takers on the cats name?

Think Dharma and Gregg!

Abr 20, 2007, 9:24 am

That makes me want to think of hippy names. Sorry I don't watch that show, I know you love it! :)

Editado: Abr 20, 2007, 9:37 am

Wait that was a horrible clue! Forget it! Apparently, I smoke crack and don't even know it!

I love love love that show! When is season 2 coming out on DVD! grrrrrr!

edited because apparently I can't spell either!

Abr 20, 2007, 9:36 am

It's definitely not Harmony. Hmm...

Abr 20, 2007, 9:38 am

Q: Which book, what scene, who says it, and to who?
"Mars looks bright tonight."

Abr 20, 2007, 9:39 am

ok..... I don't know the cat's name either.

Abr 20, 2007, 9:42 am

It looks like we're alone here shall I give it a whirl?

Abr 20, 2007, 9:43 am

At my question? Sure! :)

Abr 20, 2007, 9:55 am

Was it Ronan in SS/PS in the Forbidden Forest when Harry is pulling his detention? He says it to Hagrid when Hagrid asks him if he has seen anything weird in the forest. And I cracked up because Hagrid asked him if he knew of anything weird closer to home! I belive another Centaur says it too when he joins them later.

Abr 20, 2007, 9:57 am

I just took a literature abuse quiz. Very funny questions to find at a place like LT!

Abr 20, 2007, 10:02 am

What's that?

Editado: Abr 20, 2007, 10:07 am

It's in the Unread Support Group. So far, there's only two posts. I was the first to respond to it. The quiz asks a bunch of things regarding your experience with books and reading. The more you answer yes to, the "worse" you're supposedly off. I could only answer no for three questions. :)

Edited to say answering yes to the quiz questions in actuality only means you enjoy reading a lot.

Abr 20, 2007, 10:07 am

hmmmm.... I'm not good with quizzes....

Abr 20, 2007, 10:08 am

Trust me, you will be with this one! And how can you say that? Remind me where we are? :)

Abr 20, 2007, 10:10 am

Oh yeah.... I forgot!

Abr 20, 2007, 10:12 am

:) Go take it when you're work allows. There are at least sixteen questions. I found it easier to keep track of the ones I answered no to rather than the ones I answered yes to.

Abr 20, 2007, 10:32 am

Sorry, I don't watch Grey's Anatomy. I'm a Battlestar Galactica geek. And Mythbusters, of course. And the occasional episode of House. Otherwise, it's strictly baseball for me.

Abr 20, 2007, 10:38 am

No problem. Mary said she would be watching it. (Grr, the cat won't let me type.) At least when I worked last night, I not only got a nice supervisor, but impressed them.

Abr 20, 2007, 11:09 am

Re #251
Ms. Figg tripped over Mr. Tibles and broke her leg. The next time Harry had to stay at her house, he didn't have to look at pictures of all the kittys because she wasn't so fond of them any more. Then Dudly knocked her over with his racing bike... stupid boy...

Abr 20, 2007, 11:19 am

#271 MossRose:
.. stupid boy...
I must agree! :)

Abr 20, 2007, 11:28 am

Me too, but only if you as an "est" to that

Editado: Abr 20, 2007, 11:34 am

271--> Oh. Ok! I thought they never said.

Abr 20, 2007, 11:36 am

Stupidest boy sounds about right. :) My sister's still sleeping, but I'll go sneak a book. Be back with a Q.

Editado: Abr 20, 2007, 11:51 am

Q: Which year did Harry receive this book list? Fill in the blanks: Who are the authors and what parts of two titles have I concealed?
Bonus: Which book goes to which class?
As always, clues given upon request. :)

All students should have a copy of each of the following:
The Standard Book of Spells (Grade_1_) by ___2_____
A History of Magic by ____3____
Magical Theory by ___4_____
___5_____ Guide to Transfiguration by ____6____
One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi by ____7____
Magical Drafts and Potions by ___8_____
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by ___9_____
The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection by ___10_____"

Edited: In case you can't tell, it's not grade 1 above, but I've numbered the blanks to make this less confusing once people start answering the question.

Abr 20, 2007, 11:59 am

Come on! :) Is it too tough?

Abr 20, 2007, 12:59 pm

No way! Um..... I only know #9 Newt Scammander. Is #8 Arsenus Jigger? #1 Miranda Bagshot?

Editado: Abr 20, 2007, 1:03 pm

#278 suge: RE #276:
9) Right!
8) Right!
1) Miranda is the correct first name of the author...You want a clue on the answer you provided? I could give you a good one! :)

Abr 20, 2007, 1:05 pm

Yeah, I thought I had mixed two names up in #1. If no one else will object, clue please!

Abr 20, 2007, 1:08 pm

The last name Bagshot belongs on number three.

Abr 20, 2007, 1:12 pm

Bathilda Bagshot!

Abr 20, 2007, 1:15 pm

1, 8, and 9 are solved.

Oh, wait. You guessed the author right on the first book, so that was number 2, not 1. So it's numbers 2, 8, and 9 that are solved. :) Good job!

Abr 20, 2007, 3:04 pm

Anyone want some clues for #276? 1 and 3-7 are open.

Abr 20, 2007, 3:07 pm

keep going Suge! your on a roll.1 I'm trying to remember... oh #7 is Phyllida Spore

Abr 20, 2007, 3:08 pm

keep going Suge! your on a roll.1 I'm trying to remember... oh #7 is Phyllida Spore

Abr 20, 2007, 3:17 pm

Right! :)

Now open from #276 are 1 and 3-6! :)

Abr 20, 2007, 3:19 pm

Just interjecting here to say that this thread makes me feel like I'm taking my O.W.L.'s right now, and am about as competent as Neville.

sigh. Even Neville got better with practice.

Abr 20, 2007, 3:26 pm

Just making sure everyone is awake. :) I only got three hours of sleep myself, last night. I blame my sister who in the middle of the night said to me, "Are you awake?" :)

Abr 20, 2007, 3:27 pm

Thanks Polly but I don't know any more!!

Editado: Abr 20, 2007, 3:36 pm

You could try some bonus Qs from it (match the texts to the courses). :)
Edited: Also, there's still the matter of what year Harry received this list.

Abr 20, 2007, 3:38 pm

#1 is Miranda Goshawk, I think.

>>Is this for year 2?

Abr 20, 2007, 3:53 pm

No, Miranda Goshawk is #2. #1 is the blank before that in the same row.
Nope, it's not for year 2. :)

Abr 20, 2007, 3:56 pm

Year 5?

Abr 20, 2007, 3:56 pm

Abr 20, 2007, 4:00 pm

Book 1 8P````

Abr 20, 2007, 4:04 pm

Hey, stop spitting on me! :) Book 1 is right!

Abr 20, 2007, 4:33 pm

Yey! I won!

Abr 20, 2007, 6:08 pm

When I chose this question, I never thought it would turn out this difficult. Sorry, everyone! :)

Abr 20, 2007, 6:27 pm

#5---> Beginners...

Abr 20, 2007, 6:31 pm

You got 5 right! Number 1 should be easy now!

Abr 20, 2007, 7:14 pm

ha ha ha.... are you gonna make me say it?

Ok, Cocoa is barking at something....

Abr 20, 2007, 7:24 pm

On second glance, I guess #1 of #276 should have been easy the entire time. :)
Are you happy-crying?
Chocolate doesn't bark, I tell you. :) And I thought he was visiting your Mom in the Dominican Republic?

Abr 20, 2007, 7:37 pm

I hope you've not taken offense about the chocolate thing. My cats have ridiculous names (Aloof, Aloft, and 'R' Kitty), tease them if you please. :)

Abr 20, 2007, 9:56 pm

I guess everyone's gone 'cause it's a Friday night. I'm still around for up to another hour, if anyone's around.

Abr 21, 2007, 12:18 am

An amendment to my answer in 271:
The cat that Ms. Figg trips over in the first book is not named. I just listened to it on audio while I was at work. Mr. Tibles is the cat that she stations outside #4 Privet Drive in the beginning of OtP. Sorry for the mix up... Still a good question, Suge. :-)

Abr 21, 2007, 12:22 am

She's either sleeping or angry I called her Yorkie a barking chocolate bar. :)

Abr 21, 2007, 9:30 am

Sorry about that I feel asleep after my last post!

Kerian!!!! I'm not angry at you!! Infact I love the barking chocolate bar!! I'll give you all the details later, I have to got take him to the vet for a checkup and a groom!

"See" yas later!

Abr 21, 2007, 9:50 am

Good morning! I thought up another clue!

What did hermione respond when Ron told her to start a fire in ss

Abr 21, 2007, 11:11 am

wow - I missed some good questions. :( Been a busy week.

>309 pollysmith: "but there's no wood"

I love the authors names on the textbooks!

**what is Harry watching when Rufus Srimgeour tries to convince him to side with the Ministry?**

Abr 21, 2007, 1:49 pm

Garden Gnomes afrolicking in the Weaselys backyard?

Abr 21, 2007, 1:51 pm

303---> When I got home from work on Thurs. my mom and cocoa were waiting in my appartment! I almost died because I was missing them so much!

Abr 21, 2007, 2:47 pm

About all that chocolate --- as long as no one is feeding it to the dogs. That's dangerous for them.

Name (and/or describe) the 13 people sitting at the table (after Trelawny joins them) for Xmas lunch at Hogwarts in PoA.

Abr 21, 2007, 8:44 pm

>311 suge: close suge, but not quite

no idea how to give a clue that will not give it away. :(

sorry for the delay all - I will have to stop osting questions when I do not know how long I can be on

Abr 21, 2007, 8:57 pm

Wow. I thought everyone had apparated for good, and left no forwarding address. :-)

suge's answer seemed close enough to me, but . . . . Harry was watching a garden gnome pulling a worm out of the ground.

Anything else open (other than mine in #313)?

Abr 22, 2007, 1:24 am

Sorry I was gone all day. I had to send BookMooch packages and then work. Just got home.

#312 suge:
That must have been so nice! I hate being apart from my pets more than a day or two, and could never imagine living in a different country than my mother. That must be tough.

#313 myshelves:
As well as chicken and peanut butter. ... Have you ever seen a cat eat butter? It kind of reminds me of how a dog reacts to peanut butter. Once I realized this, I stopped letting my cat have my toast. (Luckily, he likes the crust as well.) I've been wondering if it's just as bad. What do you think?

Abr 22, 2007, 1:57 am

#315 - right myshelves. Sorry if I was trying to be too specific.

Abr 22, 2007, 2:11 am

#316 - kerian,

Chicken is ok as long as there are absolutely no bones, right? Never heard about peanut butter. Gets stuck to the tongue & mouth? I think my German Shepherd could have found a way. Toss him a seedless grape & he'd spend as long as it took peeling it. Amazing to watch. :-) A vet also told us no pork products. No dog we had ever had any problem with a little of whatever we ate, but they were large dogs, and got only a little.

Abr 22, 2007, 2:14 am

Then again, maybe suge was just bluffing. :-)) She did say plural gnomes, and that one wasn't doing much frolicking. Too cold, probably.

So how about those 13 people at table?

Abr 22, 2007, 2:15 am

Abr 23, 2007, 11:53 am

Abr 23, 2007, 1:40 pm

Great job, myshelves!
littlegeek that was a good guess:)

heehee mary and her answer-it-quickly clues strikes again! LOL

Abr 23, 2007, 1:45 pm

What did McGonagall wear to the Yule Ball?

Abr 23, 2007, 1:49 pm

a red tartan robe and an ugly garland around the brim of her hat

Abr 23, 2007, 1:52 pm

Right. But what kind of "ugly garland" and with what significance? :-)

Abr 23, 2007, 1:57 pm

oh geez
or mistletoe for um kissing?
or could it be pine?
Was it stinky? LOL

Abr 23, 2007, 2:04 pm

No to all.

It went with the robes.

Abr 23, 2007, 2:06 pm

Why did she wear red tartan dress robes?

(And whose surname does she share?)

Abr 23, 2007, 2:09 pm

LOL I assumed she wore tartan because she was Scottish or Irish and red because it was a Christmas ball...

Abr 23, 2007, 2:10 pm

Is thistle a type of garland and is that it?

Abr 23, 2007, 2:12 pm

What, and by whom, gets released in who's office?

Does that make any sense?

Editado: Abr 23, 2007, 2:23 pm

LOL maybe
is the gnarkle or whatever the gold sniffer creature is
into Umbridge's office
by Lee the twin's friends?
*giggle* does that make sense as an answer

oh wait aren't they called Snufflers?

Abr 23, 2007, 2:23 pm

Actually she'd decorated her hat with a wreath of thistles. The thistle is the national emblem of Scotland.

Abr 23, 2007, 2:24 pm

Nifflers, by Dean Thomas, in Umbridge's office?

Abr 23, 2007, 2:24 pm

almost!!!! You got 'em all except the creature you are so very close!!!

Soooo.... any further intel on 353??

Abr 23, 2007, 2:24 pm

Abr 23, 2007, 2:30 pm

#363 cool.. I didn't know thistle is the national emblem of Scotland so that went right over my head in the book 8)
#362 so close but so far.. as I told myshelves earlier I'm having a bad name day!

Abr 23, 2007, 2:32 pm

Nifflers!! Good Alitheia

Abr 23, 2007, 2:38 pm

when Harry's and Voldy's wand connected in GoF list the people and thing that came out of Voldy's wand in order..

Abr 23, 2007, 2:57 pm

incidently, that's the place to look for those who believe that Harry is a Hurcrux....

*a ghost hand

Abr 23, 2007, 2:59 pm

Silver hand, Cedric, Frank Bryce, Harry's parents...
I can't remember any others:)

Abr 23, 2007, 3:01 pm

Silver hand, Cedric, Frank, Bertha, Lily, James.

Abr 23, 2007, 3:04 pm

#371 that's pretty close
#372 right except the order;)

this orderis something that never made sense to me so I hope after we answer someone could explain it to me!

Abr 23, 2007, 3:08 pm

Don't forget the ghost crucio from when he turtured the Death Eater.

Abr 23, 2007, 3:11 pm

thanks suge I forgot about those echoing screams 8) I went and got my book so as to make sure I hadn't forgotten anything else!

Abr 23, 2007, 3:16 pm

#372 isn't the right order??

Abr 23, 2007, 3:19 pm

ah yes you see in the book Harry's dad comes out first and then his mother, I never understood that and I was hoping someone could tell me why! 8) I bow to greater minds than mine

Abr 23, 2007, 3:21 pm

Not in my copy of the book! Lily comes out, and tells Harry to hold on for his father.

Abr 23, 2007, 3:22 pm

I think I've heard that they got it bassackwards in the movie, which I haven't seen.

Editado: Abr 23, 2007, 3:27 pm

really which copy do you have US or UK? it's one of those things that has driven me crazy cuz it's so large of error. James comes out then says "your mother wants to see you.."

Abr 23, 2007, 3:29 pm

I'll have to see it again and check.... really? I think I would have remembered a blunder like that!

Abr 23, 2007, 3:29 pm

I have to go get my daughter from school. Just so you didn't think I ran off and left you mid conversation;) Does anyone else's book have it written like mine?

Abr 23, 2007, 3:30 pm

Good grief!

Mine is US. It was part of a boxed set of hardcovers.

Abr 23, 2007, 3:30 pm

No way!!! wow.... Lily says something like "hold on for your father" to Harry in my copy.

Abr 23, 2007, 3:37 pm

From the wiki article on "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire":

"...in the original edition of the book, James Potter comes out first, and says, "Hold on, your mother is coming and wants to see you." Rowling had originally written that Lily emerged from the wand first. However, her American editor, in the rush to edit the book, incorrectly pointed this out as an error, and Rowling "changed it without thinking." (1) Subsequent editions of the book corrected the mistake, and Rowling's original order (Lily appearing before James) stands as canon."

The footnote is to JKR's web site:

(1) "Section: F.A.Q.
At the end of 'Goblet of Fire', in which order should Harry's parents have come out of the wand?

Lily first, then James. That’s how it appears in my original manuscript but we were under enormous pressure to edit it very fast and my American editor thought that was the wrong way around, and he is so good at catching small errors I changed it without thinking, then realised it had been right in the first place. We were all very sleep-deprived at the time."

Abr 23, 2007, 3:41 pm

Cool beans!

Abr 23, 2007, 3:53 pm

thank you so much, myshelves...
Too bad they probably printed millions of books incorrectly or I could have a collectable!

Abr 23, 2007, 3:57 pm

Did the question get answered?

I have a quickie: In what aisle number is Harry's prophecy in the Dept. of Mysteries?

Abr 23, 2007, 3:57 pm

I have wondered that myself because thats what my book says too. james then lily. So It was just a mistake. interesting!

Abr 23, 2007, 3:58 pm

Abr 23, 2007, 3:59 pm

#388 --97

Abr 23, 2007, 4:00 pm

So did they have it right in the movie? (Must have been the book error that I'd heard about.)

Abr 23, 2007, 4:01 pm

huh-uh it was 98

Abr 23, 2007, 4:03 pm

I'll check tonight and report! *snaps heels*

Abr 23, 2007, 4:03 pm

#392 honestly I can't remember what they did in the movie;)
#393 we'll just wait an see what the answer is 8P

Abr 23, 2007, 4:04 pm

MEM82 is right, 97.

Your turn.

Abr 23, 2007, 4:05 pm

394 What am I talking about??!! Google!!!! They have movie scripts on line.

Abr 23, 2007, 4:06 pm

I heard a rumour there's no Weasley is Our King in the movie. No quidditch at all. ;-(

Abr 23, 2007, 4:06 pm

Which aisle number:

We've done that one before, so if anyone has the strength to hunt through I, II, & III. . . :-)

I think it was 97.

Abr 23, 2007, 4:06 pm

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA take that mommy!

Abr 23, 2007, 4:07 pm

Abr 23, 2007, 4:08 pm

Abr 23, 2007, 4:10 pm

400 Now was that nice? By the way anyone whos interested Mem makes the best meatloaf! of course she watched me alot in the kitchen when she was little

Abr 23, 2007, 4:10 pm

From IMSDb:

They both cast and their streams of magic meet. They both struggle.

Do nothing. He is mine to finish. He's

Shapes form in the surrounding magical energy. We hear Dumbledore's

(voice) Harry when the connection is
broken you must get to the portkey.
We can delay it for a moment to give
you time but only a moment, do you understand?

(voice) Harry take my body back will
you? Take my body back to my father.

(voice) Let go. Sweetheart you're ready.
Let go! Let go!

The connection breaks, Harry runs over to Cedric's body and summons
the cup over to them. In an instant the port out. Voldemort looks

Abr 23, 2007, 4:11 pm

You must be talking about OotP, right?

Abr 23, 2007, 4:12 pm

What was the merpeoples song during the challenge. I'll give you the first line:
come seek us where our voices sound......

Abr 23, 2007, 4:12 pm

Do we know for sure this is what is going to appear in the movie? It could be a shooting script, and you know they change things on set and in editing.

Abr 23, 2007, 4:13 pm

#405 Yes, OotP.

Abr 23, 2007, 4:13 pm

Sorry mom... oh and thanks for the compliment even if you jumped on it at the end! *giggle* You are a wonderful cook!

Abr 23, 2007, 4:14 pm

#407 Never mind that was the 4th movie, duh!

I've just read them all and I can't remember which book is which. D'oh, I'm getting old!

Abr 23, 2007, 4:14 pm

Doesn't really tell us the order in which the "shapes" show up, does it?

Abr 23, 2007, 4:14 pm

thank you dear!

Abr 23, 2007, 4:14 pm

#406 "what you lost now you've found" ?? i have no idea I'd have to look it up!

Abr 23, 2007, 4:14 pm

Blast! I heard no Quiddich in book 7!!!

Abr 23, 2007, 4:15 pm

uh ..no dear, not quite

Abr 23, 2007, 4:16 pm

Apparently, JKR hates to write the quidditch parts.

Abr 23, 2007, 4:16 pm

414 yes thats what I've heard too

Abr 23, 2007, 4:16 pm

".... we can not sing above the ground..."

Abr 23, 2007, 4:17 pm

well it would really just be redundant wouldn't it? We all no how its played.

Abr 23, 2007, 4:18 pm

418 yes thats the second line! >Now the third, anyone?

Abr 23, 2007, 4:19 pm

I'll go for something like
"We can't be heard above the ground" for the second line.

But I can't come up with the next. Only snatches of the song.

Abr 23, 2007, 4:20 pm

long shot here but is it
"we've taken what you'll dearly miss"?

Abr 23, 2007, 4:21 pm

second line #418

comeon think it all rythmes

Abr 23, 2007, 4:22 pm

"....an hour long you'll have to loooooook,,,"

Abr 23, 2007, 4:23 pm

yes...go on......

Abr 23, 2007, 4:25 pm

um found, sound, hound???
"we wouldn't make a sound" ?

Abr 23, 2007, 4:26 pm

no rythmes with look!

Abr 23, 2007, 4:27 pm

to try and find what we took

Abr 23, 2007, 4:27 pm

1Come seek us where out voices sound
2We cannot sing above the ground
4We've taken what you'll sorely miss
5An hour long you'll have to look
6 ___________ what we took
7 But past an hour the outlook's black
8Too late, it's gone; it won't come back

Abr 23, 2007, 4:29 pm

Is there anything about snipped chickens in there?

sorry, wrong thread.

Abr 23, 2007, 4:29 pm

thanks for the post myshelves I see I have forgotten a couple lines!

Abr 23, 2007, 4:32 pm

LOL snipped chickens
what thread is that for? Just curious :) A book?

Abr 23, 2007, 4:33 pm

So have I. :-)

Abr 23, 2007, 4:34 pm

Over on Green Dragon. We're waiting for an author to answer our questions about his book that we are group reading. It's getting kind of silly.

Abr 23, 2007, 4:35 pm

thanks...I hope you get your answers;)

Abr 23, 2007, 4:38 pm

I thought it looked interesting. Just ordered the book. :-)

Abr 23, 2007, 4:40 pm

6 to recover what we took???

Abr 23, 2007, 4:44 pm

I think it needs another syllable to scan.

"And to recover what we took"?

Abr 23, 2007, 4:48 pm

Yup. We need 8 syllables to a line. So what the heck is line 3?

Abr 23, 2007, 4:52 pm

No idea. Lexicon, anyone?

Abr 23, 2007, 4:56 pm

That's cheating! :-)

Editado: Abr 23, 2007, 5:00 pm

We need a rhyme for miss.

Just ran through the alphabet. Gotta be "this," I think.

Abr 23, 2007, 4:59 pm

kiss... hiss... piss... no? ahhh ok then.

Abr 23, 2007, 5:01 pm

Grin. Those were the ones I came up with before "this."

Abr 23, 2007, 5:08 pm

Wild guess time:

And while you seek us think of this

Abr 23, 2007, 5:22 pm

So, polly,

How about telling us which lines are 100% correct, which are close, which aren't. . . ?

Abr 23, 2007, 5:51 pm

ok up in 429, all those are 100% correct

three and six have yet to be completed!

Abr 23, 2007, 6:04 pm

Er . . . I got bored waiting, and looked it up. Not all are 100%.

Here's the correct part, with blanks:

Come seek us where our voices sound,
We cannot sing above the ground,
And while ________ this:
We've taken what you'll sorely miss,
An hour long you'll have to look,
And to recover what we took. (correct in 438)
But past an hour - the _____ black
Too late, it's gone, it won't come back"

Abr 23, 2007, 6:06 pm

Oh ...okay. guess I missed something

Abr 23, 2007, 6:52 pm

*pops head into room for a quick peek*

Line 7:

But past an hour the prospect's black

I can't come up with line 3.

Abr 23, 2007, 6:59 pm

Prospect. Outlook. It was close. :-)

Line 3 is a rather boring one. Now that I've looked, I can't even think of a good hint. My wild guess up yonderin 445 was another case of the wrong words, but meaning the same thing.

Abr 24, 2007, 8:29 am

hints for line three;

hunting, puzzle over, in quest of, thinking

Abr 24, 2007, 10:00 am

Abr 24, 2007, 10:19 am

ponder is right

Abr 24, 2007, 10:21 am

and while you can, ponder this?

Alitheia, I think it is ponder! :) It feels right

Abr 24, 2007, 10:25 am

How about this one
Q:What type of ice cream did Hagrid get Harry on his first trip to Diagon Alley?

Abr 24, 2007, 10:31 am

Abr 24, 2007, 10:31 am

Hello everyone!

Ok sooo where still on the Merpeople....

And while you're looking ponder this?

Abr 24, 2007, 10:32 am

#456 i think its raspberry?

Abr 24, 2007, 10:33 am

#456 wasn't it strawberry peanut butter?

Abr 24, 2007, 10:35 am

460--> Mary, I think it was a weird combo like that.

Abr 24, 2007, 10:36 am

honestly I think almost everything those guys eat is weird ;) LOL

Abr 24, 2007, 10:36 am

I thought that came later. I'm pretty sure its raspberry, with nuts!

Abr 24, 2007, 10:38 am

#462 what? Treacle tart, peppermint toads, chocolate frogs....weird?

Abr 24, 2007, 10:38 am

*shrug* I don't know we'll have to wait and see. They ate odd flavors all the time, it's kinda gross.

Abr 24, 2007, 10:40 am

Almost Polly! you just need one more flavor:)

Abr 24, 2007, 10:41 am

Abr 24, 2007, 10:43 am

You got it Polly!
raspberry and chocolate with nuts:)

Abr 24, 2007, 10:44 am

yay me!

What was the name of the owner of the ice cream shop?

Abr 24, 2007, 10:46 am

oh geez I'm not very good at remembering the names of people... I know he disappeared in book 6! wasn't his first name Lou or Lenny?

Abr 24, 2007, 10:48 am

no, not even close! hehehe

Abr 24, 2007, 10:48 am

Fortescue was his last name, but I'm drawing a blank on his first. It started with a F right?

Abr 24, 2007, 10:49 am

ooooh I finally know one!!!! Florean Fortescue. I hope you don't deduct points for spelling!

Abr 24, 2007, 10:51 am

Wow good job guys I was WWWWAAAAYYYY off!

Editado: Abr 24, 2007, 10:57 am

well, seeing as its you suge I won't count off for spelling! (also because I'm not sure of the spelling myself), just for general interest I think theres an i in florian?

Abr 24, 2007, 10:57 am

Abr 24, 2007, 10:58 am

Abr 24, 2007, 11:07 am

Abr 24, 2007, 11:10 am

Aiden, Lynch, Malloy?, Murphy . . .

Abr 24, 2007, 11:21 am

So far.....

Aiden is Lynch's first name 8)

Abr 24, 2007, 11:25 am

here's some clues:

one name sounds like some one who you think is stupid...
another is the name like a pigs tail...
one is like a city that was seiged by a horse...
one is like a ray of light...
one is the same last name of an actress who stared in "dark water" or some people's favorite 007

181 unread posts since Saturday? You guys have been busy. Sorry I've been gone - I got hurt at work on Sunday.

Regarding GoF, I'm sorry I wasn't here to tell you guys about the change when both James and Lily appear in the scene with Voldemort. I already knew a correction was made because they were supposed to appear from most recently killed to killed longer ago.

Also about the quidditch in the OotP movie, it's not a rumor: there will be no quidditch. :( I can't believe they're skipping 'Weasley is our King'!

Any questions open? 181 unread posts provided with a lot to sort out. Sorry I don't have a book with me today to post Qs from, I'm trying to not lift anything.

Sorry you got hurt. I hope its better now!

polly: What's WC5?

Thanks. I'm prone to hurting my back. Normally, it takes a week to heal if I'm lucky, so it will slowly get there.
