Book tastes

Literary fiction. I read James McBride and Louise Erdrich a lot - lit fic that is often anchored in history. Just got turned on to fiction based on ancient epics - enjoyed Madeline Miller's Circe and Song of Achilles.
Poetry. Have read most of Jack Gilbert, Jericho Brown and Patricia Smith but always looking for similar poets.
Nonfiction. History and Nature. Wendell Berry and Barry Lopez are favorites.

saroz: Slightly off the beaten path, but this reader might like Kazuo Ishiguro's "The Buried Giant," a literary novel with elements involving the search for the Holy Grail. Also John Gardner's "Grendel," based on the Beowulf epic, but from the perspective of the "monster." (Dez 4, 2023, 9:18pm)
