Sobre mimI'm Linzi; I'm a grad student attending school in New Jersey for New Testament.
Sobre a minha bibliotecaBooks about religion, both fiction and non-fiction, make up a significant portion of my library. I love the historical Jesus and the circumstances of the early Christian church in which the gospels were written. I've recently expanded my interest into Christianity as social action and responsibility, so I'm reading more about Jesus as a first century political figure in connection to socio-political movements of the present day.
I'm also a big historical fiction fan. I have my pet historical characters and events - I love Communism and the Cold War (what a declaration :-p), particularly focused on Czechoslovakia, Ukraine, and Chernobyl. I love Zimbabwe, Richard III, Julian the Apostate, and Jonestown. I love Iran and particularly the Iranian Revolution. All of these interests are getting transferred over to my nonfiction reading as well, as I'm making an effort to do more of that.
I love feminist criticism, Marxist criticism, and postmodernism. This influences my reading not in the sense that I read straight-up theory very often (I guess sometimes I do) but it definitely shapes how I read novels and consider their approach to society. I also write reviews for every book I read; I find it an important part of processing and further, I don't know, chewing on whatever book I just finished. I am an English major, therefore opining about the meanings of these texts is an inescapable compulsion for me :)
