Sobre mimSterling E. Lanier (1927-2007), writer, sculptor and naturalist, I wrote highly regarded fantasy and science fiction, among them the memorable tales of Brigadier Ffellowes and the post-apocalyptic adventures of Hiero Desteen. I am also known for recognizing and shepherding Frank Herbert's Dune into print although when the book didn't sell at first I lost my job because of it.... Apparently Hiero's Journey was used as a model for role-playing games. Wish I'd made some of that money.

Note from Lanier's librarian I will be expanding and improving his profile as I can. Forgive me, for this will be a site in progress for some time to come.

Sobre a minha bibliotecaNote from Lanier's librarian: At present Lanier's library is still intact and in one place physically, but that may not be possible to preserve over the long term as many books are a bit mildewed (Florida climate), some are very outdated and dilapidated, and more than a few special books will need to go into the care and keeping of individual family members at some future time. My goal is to capture the library as it is now, including as much of the VERY eccentric and enjoyable marginalia he scribbled between the covers of many of his books as I can. It is my hope to give a future researcher or biographer this unusual body of knowledge to work with; the library reflects SEL's multitude of interests from military history to natural history, from dinosaurs to butterflies and reveals much about his likes and dislikes. I adored Lanier who was also my godfather and writing mentor and I am delighted to be able to spend some time on this project whenever I can!
