About Me
I live in Lincoln, UK and work at the university there. I'm interested in energy and environmental issues and their relationship with politics and the economy. As a result I'm involved in a local Transition group which seeks to build resilience to peak oil and climate change through practical projects and awareness-raising activities.

I am also an active member of the Social Science Centre, Lincoln (http://socialsciencecentre.org.uk). The Social Science Centre has been established to provide an alternative to the increasingly marketised model of higher education which is being imposed on mainstream universities and colleges.

I completed a PhD in pragmatics and the philosophy of language at Newcastle University and am especially interested in meaning, communication and the relation between sound and thought. I also like an eclectic selection of popular music and have a soft spot for post-apocalyptic media.
