Sobre mimI'm a mumble-something geek with an unfortunate addiction to the written word. I've been reading since a teacher showed me how cool it was that the words "A red ball" matched the picture above them. I was initially sceptical about the reading thing because my father had done such a great job of reading books to me, but was won over by the red ball and final, exciting ending where I could identify Roger Red Hat.
The first book that I can clearly remember was "Where the Wild Things Are", but the book that shaped my young reading mind was "The Hobbit".
LibraryThing appeals because I can catalogue my books, export them into Excel for easier ticking off when I move house and find other people with a similar book addiction.
Sobre a minha bibliotecaMy library is constantly expanding out of its bookshelf space, despite my frequent vows not to buy more books. It's weighted towards the fantasy end of the fiction genres, but there is some sci-fi, crime, historical novels, childrens books and the odd classic. The non-fiction section is rather computer heavy (hazards of my profession), but I'm interested in medieval history, writing and media theory so it's not *all* computers. I'm trying to be logical in cataloging my library on here, working through the shelves in order, but it could take a while :-) It's not helped by my tendency to keep buying more books and reading them rather than inputting all the books that I already own!
As of August 2008 all my books had been catalogued, which means anything new on the list is a new book. As that showed up me buying 23 new books in three months, that may not be such a good thing...
