Sobre Minha Biblioteca

I was an early LibraryThing signup (2005), which also coincided with when I started reading more. In 2004, I went from reading 1-5 books a year to over 50. Thus the books listed in "Your library" were read 2004-present and is the majority of my reading life. Prior to 2004, books are listed in "pre-LibraryThing", though not complete it's not far off.

Some favorite books. They left a strong and lasting impression - other books I respect, admire and learned from, these are the books I loved. Roughly the top 10%. I read fiction and non-fiction but am an aficionado of narrative aka creative non-fiction.

Vital Stats Tree Rings, yearly snapshot showing annual growth rings.

New Books Watch Program, a computer program I wrote for myself. You might also find it useful. It monitors a watchlist of authors and emails whenever a new book is published by them.

How do you rate this book? Thoughts on scoring books.

Did you know.. More English-language novel titles were published in 2010 than during the entire Victorian era (1837-1901)?

Were the stories published in 2010 comparable in quality and originality to Dickens, Brontë, Thackeray, Eliot, Hardy, Trollope, Carrol, Stevenson? Will a graduate student enter the ocean of "2010 literature", comb the depths and report back after decades of study? Then, over again for 2011.. we live in age of hyper-fragmentation, unknowability. But also the pleasure of discovery.

“In my whole life, I have known no wise people who didn’t read all the time — none, zero.” - Charlie Munger
