My wife asks me to unload 2 books for every new one that comes in. I don't literally comply but try to in spirit. Some people have a weakness for alcohol, tobacco and drugs; mine is books and music. I don't claim to have read every page or anything - but have an interesting and apparently genetic trait: I scan/skim books and periodicals backwards, then read slowly and carefully what interests me in the normal direction. This latter may be multiple times. I love to read out loud too. I find music and written material far more satisfying if shared with another. In recent days I have tackled the too many books problem by creating ebooks from scans and other etext formats. This allows me to stealthily increase my library without irritating my wife.
