Art Historian by training.
Cartoonist / Illustrator / Animator by trade.
Curious by nature.
Ravenous and near omnivorous reader, and compulsive book hoarder.
Some favorite topics:
- nonsense & absurd humor
- anything Lewis Carroll (but especially collecting pastiches, parodies and continuations of Alice)
- the Temple of Jerusalem (no, I'm not a freemason, but I'm fascinated by its influence on architectural theory and its many - hugely differing - reconstructions)
- the history of magic (no, I don't even try to practice it, I merely think it's a fascinating piece of cultural history)
- guilty pleasure: I like supernatural horror (especially the "pulpy" Cthulhu Mythos stuff)
- and, as a result of the two above combined, I also collect versions of the Necronomicon, especially those pretending to be the "only real one" ;-)
- Oh, and I have a thing for Indonesian cookery. That's heritage though. I'm Indo-Dutch.
Combiners!
If you have a question about or a problem with any combination work I've done, please feel free to leave me a comment. No offense will be taken.
Same goes for any incorrect entries in my library - I'd rather know if, for example, there's a wrong author attributed to something.

Sobre a minha bibliotecaThis essentially represents my actual library (though I only listed about 80 % so far). Covers, ratings, tags and collections are a work in progress.
With the advent of collections I've added a wishlist for my own convenience + some books in "Read but unowned" (far from exhaustive).
And no, I have not read all of these books cover to cover. Perish the thought - I would have nothing new to read in the house. But then again, there are many books that I have read which are not present in my own library - sometimes to my chagrin. I will probably be adding some to the "Read but not Owned" collection, but with 50 years of reading behind me I couldn't possibly list them all. For example: sure I've read Huckleberry Finn, The Three Musketeers, Robinson Crusoe, etc., etc., etc. But I can't for the life of me recall if they were the real deal or abridgments, let alone any edition specifics.
[Okay. I've succumbed. From March 19, 2010 I'm also listing some of my non-book stuff here. I have them for reasons related to my books, so in my mind they're not a separate thing.]
[Okay, I've succumbed again. As of December 2, 2019 I'm also listing movies that I don't have - but had some real influence on me. Darn, I made films for a living. It would be silly not to list at least some of them. How and why they influenced me is for me to know and you to guess. It might just be their skills at editing.]
Ratings (don't use them much, but if I do):
***** Wonderful.
**** Good.
*** Okay.
** Disappointing.
* Dismal.
Half stars may be used if I can't quite make up my mind.
PLEASE NOTE: The mere fact that I own a book does not mean I necessarily like it or endorse its contents.
ETA: I've created a "might be interesting" collection, so my "wishlist" will only contain works I'm fairly sure I really want to have a copy.
