Sobre Minha Biblioteca
My library has books on a variety of subjects. Only a few have been catalogued so far. I like history and historic fiction, especially about Florida; fast paced suspense and mystery; nostalgia; books about the War of Northern Agression and the southland; do-it-yourself books on a variety of subjects; books about and by people I admire (my heroes); and books on anything that catches my interest and holds it at any given time.
I am searching for a book called BLOOD TRAITORS by De Villiers and Hirtle, two Canadian authors (HarperCollins Canada) either hardcover (1996) or paperback (1998).
About Me
I am a wife, mother, grandmother, and a writer. My articles about Florida related topics have appeared in local and national magazines. INDIGO is my first novel. It is an 18th century historical novel set in the British and Spanish Floridas. Seduced by promises of a new life in East Florida by Dr. Andrew Turnbull, owner of the British colony, New Smyrna, Caty and Rafael leave their homeland, Minorca. Cruelty and virtual slavery soon corrupt their dreams. After escaping to St. Augustine, they are separated by a hurricane, leaving Caty pregnant, impoverished, and at the mercy of rich handsome Joseph Adams, and Rafael with a new identity. Their separate lives amidst the changing flags and wild grandeur of eighteenth-century Florida become rich with adventure among Indians, pirates, and fellow colonists. For each there is another love. But Caty and Rafael cannot - will not - forget each other . . .
I enjoy reading, writing, photography, hunting, embroidery, genealogy, and my grandchildren. I have lived in Ohio, Arkansas, and Guam while my husband was a career Air Force non-com. We now live in the neighborhood where we were both raised in St. Johns County, Florida.
I am currently writing a book about my first ancestors in Florida, Gaspar and Ana Pons Papy, and their descendants. Gaspar was from Smyrna, Asia Minor, and Ana was from Minorca. Both were brought to Florida in 1786 by Dr. Turnbull as indentured servants. My book will be historical and genealogical.
