My library consists of classics, various fantasy, fashion and craft books, as well as children's books. Children's books are by far the most captivating and enjoyable read. Oh to feel the thrill of a Curious George again! For now I have to content myself with Vanity Fair and Persuasion, but I can't stay away from children's books long. They bring back the irresistable joy I felt as a little kid when I perused the wealth of picture and chapter books at the library. I am trying to build a large library. I have an endless list of classics and children's books I would like to own. Hurray for second hand stores and library sales! Currently my favorite reading is Russian literature or some dark depressing classic, such as Wuthering Heights. Love that book. I am repulsed by cheesy, mushy romance novels. Don't ever try to get me to read one. On occassion I have a moment of weakness and give in to reading some revolting love story, but usually I have the utmost disdain for them. Don't get me wrong, it's not the love I hate, it's the blatant description of kisses and affection which are usually part of a book which is a fairy tale romance, something which rarely happens in real life.

I am a sojourner in the land of books. I am constantly amazed by the wealth of knowledge available through reading. The ability to increase one's vocabulary, knowledge of history and science, is wonderful and foolish to pass by. Although I love this about books, my favorite thing about reading is being able to lose myself in the story, to become the book, to be the character in the book. It's a pleasure to lose myself within the pages of books.
