Fred Zackel

Sick tale of a serial killer, who revels in the destruction of women, and whose latest victim is a little more than he bargained for. This might have made a decent, very dark short story, but Zackel extends it to the length of a short novel, piling gory detail upon detail until one can't help but decide that he might enjoy this kind of violence himself. The eBook is also full of typos and a few missing words. I can't call it a thoroughly unprofessional job, however, as Zackel does have some talent as a writer. The scenes in a desert cantina are done well enough, though marred by grisly flashbacks to the protagonist's previous murders. If Zackel's prose were as bankrupt as his plot, this one would have been deleted long before I finished it.… (mais)
