Chelsea Roberts lost her whole family one Christmas Day in a car accident (mother, father, brother, sister-in-law and nephew). Now it is 3 weeks until Christmas, and Chelsea is feeling alone. She is now living in the small town of Hodgkinsville, Idaho. She happens to run into Nick Collins, "a handsome man with a gentle smile and caring eyes", with her grocery cart at a store. Can you experience love at first sight? These two people came pretty close to just that. Nick is a single man who has just been given charge of his niece Jasmine, when his sister died suddenly after giving birth to her. So both Nick and Chelsea have suffered great losses and both are determined to stand strong, no matter how hard that may be. You can see and feel the love these two have for each other, but Nick has to be patient and understanding with Chelsea as she has a lot to work through.

There is a unique twist to the story that I wasn't expecting about half way through, which was something I didn't see coming. I loved Chelsea's neighbor Estelle (which also turned out to be Nick's Aunt) and I loved the special bond these two ladies had with each other. I also would have loved to have given this book a higher rating, because it was very well written, was a tender love story, BUT when the whole sleeping together before marriage hit the pages, with no remorse or sadness about it I was very disappointed. I believe that adultery is wrong, but no one seemed to think anything of it in this story. I would not recommend this story because of this and cannot give it any higher of a review. I saw no reason for this to happen in the story so was very disheartened by it when the author chose to go in that direction.

Mark Turner is an undercover cop who walked out on his wife Julia when the going got tough. Four years later, when an undercover operation goes bad and he thinks he’s going to die, he promises if he makes it out alive he will go set things right with Julia. But will she want him back after four years of silence?

I have to tell you, I’m not impressed with Mark. He’s an ass not just because he walked away when the going got tough, but because he maintained radio silence for four freakin’ years. His wife didn’t know where he was or even if he was alive. Nope, not liking him at all.

Despite Mark’s assishness (not sure that’s a word, so I think I’ll claim it) Julia loves him, has always loved him and will always love him. So, when he walks back into her life, (I did mention the four freakin’ years of silence, right?) she has a huge decision to make. Tell him to take a hike or take a chance on trusting him again.

Julia is a better person than me because she decides to give him another chance and without any begging, crawling or presents involved! Ok, seriously, this is a great story about a relationship that fell apart, bad decisions regretted and that leap of faith we all sometimes need to take. I enjoyed it very much even though I would’ve liked it even more if Julia had given Mark the cold shoulder for a bit. Like I said, she’s a better person than me. lol

A tragedy in the past of Chelsea Roberts has her breathing, but not living. Most of all she hates Christmas. A chance meeting with a handsome, charming, new father and the matchmaking abilities of a few good friends has her back in the land of the living before Santa can climb down the chimney, but will she take a chance on love?

'An Unforgettable Christmas' is a story that starts out with a woman broken by tragedy, afraid to really live and love again. Until she literally runs into Nick Collins, a handsome, friendly, charming man who is the guardian of his newborn niece. Nick is interested in Chelsea and wants to date her. Chelsea is interested in Nick, but is weighted by grief and is having a hard time dealing with it.

I liked Nick’s gentle persistence in his quest to make Chelsea his. I liked Chelsea’s strength in beating the depression and grief and reaching out for a chance at happiness. I did want to grab her a few times and shake her and yell, ‘Are you out of your mind? This guy is perfect for you! Stop wallowing and start living!” However, she had to work through it herself and no amount of armchair quarterbacking from me was going to get her there faster. LOL

A wonderful heartwarming story with a few surprises thrown in. You don’t want to skip it this Christmas!
