Royal Barry Wills (1895–1962)

The notation in the front of this books says that my Aunt Sally gave it to me in 1962. When I think of Royal Barry Wills I imagine sprawling ranch houses of the 50's and 60's. The tree houses in this book don't exactly sprawl but they can be fairly elaborate while still remaining within the reachof an ambitious kid (who has free access to a lumber yard). The only tree house I actually built myself was a wobbly 12 sq. ft. platform in a pine tree but it was inspired by this book.
