- Trained as an shipbuilding engineer, Watson immigrated about 1845 to the Caribbean Islands, where he worked as a civil engineer and occasional captain of sailing vessels. Sometime about 1850 he moved to Louisiana and by 1860 was part owner of a sawmill and a coal and steamboat business in Baton Rouge.

This is another reprint of an older book by Endeavour Press. I liked reading about the life of a Confederate soldier. This one was a soldier from Louisiana and reads like a journal. I have read multiple books of this type lately and I didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped I would. I do like the fact that this publishing company is reprinting these books so they can be read by Civil War History enthusiasts. I may end up getting a copy of this for my own shelves for a reference book.… (mais)
