Most readers (and film watchers), however, will find this book dry and pretentious as the writer spends little time focusing on acting or scene setting and instead views the film through other interdisciplinary approaches. If you're a fan of Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting, Milk, Elephant, etc...) then you would definitely enjoy reading this book. It's a pretty in-depth look at the recurring themes of Van Sant's projects, interpretations of his work, and the flimmaker's influences. This book, though not a simple read, was very entertaining. He also draws a comparison to other other writers (I give author Justin Vicari an extra half a star for discussing one of my favorite writers William Burroughs).

Overall this was a fabulous book, and I completely recommend it if you're a Gus Van Sant fan, or if you're interested in LGBTQ filmmaking.… (mais)
