The Pictorial History of Winchester: in Ancient… de Barbara Carpenter Turner
A quaint book with history and black and white images of this infamous city. It's like a symbolic tour through British history. One page may discuss the exile of of Jews in 1290 and where they once lived and another page shows the house Jane Austen lived in while she was ill and in Winchester for medical treatment. Most of the book focuses on cathedrals and other religious buildings and the string of history associated with them.

It was a handy and pleasant read for the end of the year and I was a few books shy of my annual reading goal.… (mais)
