The Read-Aloud Handbook: Seventh Edition de Jim Trelease
Skim the main text and instead pour over the treasury of read-aloud books. Great list of books to read to kids of all ages.
Note: I received a signed paperback copy of this book at ALA Midwinter 2020.
If you are a parent or an educator, get this book from the library. I read the 7th edition. The first 172 pages pertain to reading, the importance of, etc. I've long been convinced that it's critical to read, read, read to your kids -- and I still learned a lot from this section. Some ideas reinforced, some expounded upon.
The second half of the book contains titles that would make good read-alouds. Sorted by type, and then sorted alphabetically by title within that.
I haven't evaulated many of these titles yet, but I'm writing down a few and will add these to our library list. I feel like it would be a more useful list if books were grouped by age vs. alphabetically.
One thing to note: a good book doesn't necessarily translate to a good read-aloud. Some books are better read to yourself, silently. This book focuses on the ones that are great aloud.… (mais)

This collection is ok if you don't have easy access to lots of books, but I really think anyone wanting to use this would be better off choosing from the book-length options in "The Read Aloud Handbook" since most of the selections are excerpted from other books, and it's easy to find good collections of poetry.
