Those interested in learning theory tend to fall on a continuum somewhere between a behaviorist and a constructivist. Behaviorists tend to prefer didactic instruction and constructivists tend to prefer some type of guided learning. This book is a collection of essays written by people on each end of the spectrum. They provide a description of their understanding of learning theory - and often couch it in their discipline. More interestingly, in order to be published in this edition, they had to agree to receive rebuttal comments from those who are at the opposite end of the continuum and to respond to those comments. At the end of each chapter, other authors from this book ask questions and make statements regarding the author's original paper.… (mais)
