Having read and enjoyed both of Ms thomason's earlier stories in this series: daynight and Clean Slate Complex, when I was asked to be in this blog tour I jumped at the chance to be involved as I couldn't wait to read arbitrate and find out what happened next to the characters from both of the above mentioned stories. And in fact, just knowing that arbitrate was going to bring together characters from both stories made me even more excited to read it.

I was not to be disappointed. If anything I think arbitrate might be better than daynight. There is so much going on in this story and Ms Thomason's expertly weaves all the different threads so that they entwine just where they need to in order to keep you in the story and moving forward to a conclusion which leaves you breathless and wanting more.

I loved that we got to see the story from the perspective of the three main daynight characters Kira, Blake and Ethan. This added more dimension to the story and gave us much more insight into these characters as a whole. It was interesting that from the beginning of this story to the end, I found my opinion and perspective on all three characters ( as well as some other characters) changed immensely and this was a good thing. These characters came across as a lot more human in this story as they fall victim to both circumstance as well as their own flaws and make their journey through the story.

As mentioned before, there was a lot going on in this story. We jumped from past to present, and one point of view to another as well as the sheer number of story lines that were running throughout this book. There is so much information that we get given through out this novel that in any less capable hands, it would have been easy to get lost. However Ms Thomason handles this comfortably, presenting the information we need when we need it so that instead of getting lost, we get immersed inside the world that Ms Thomason has built and caught in the current which speeds up and builds momentum all the way to the end.

While this is predominantly a sequel to daynight, I found having read Clean Slate Complex definitely helped as it rounded out the characters of Alexa and Joshua a lot more which affected the way I viewed certain events in the book.

I am so glad I got to read this story as I think this series is quite different to a lot of other stories out there at the moment. I also took a couple of hours to think about the book before starting to write this review and I have found that even though this particular instalment is over, my brain is still their in the world eagerly wait ting to see what comes next for these characters, a sure sign that I loved this book and cannot wait to read Generate!

I give this 4 stars

I hadn't heard too much about this book when I saw the sign up for the blog tour but it sounded interesting so I figured I would give it a try. The first two pages were enough to convince me I had made a good move and I finished the rest of the novel throughout the course of the day, first on kindle then when that died, my ipad and then when that battery went also on my phone. I was determined to finish the book and see how it would all turn out.

The story itself was quite original. The idea of Earth and Thera, day and night, the second chancers, it intrigued me from the beginning and while I saw some twists coming, I enjoyed where the story took me and they way that it did it.

The story is told from three different view points, Kira, Blake and Ethan's and this helped give the story a rounding out that made the story ultimately more satisfying.

I loved the subtle layers that Ms Thomason adds to this tale and the way they were artfully revealed.

I am glad I took a chance on this novel and was extremely to surprised to find out that this is a self published novel as it was one of the most interesting and original tales I have read in a while. This book finished in a way that made it seem like there could be a book two to follow. I definitely hope this is the case as I would love for this great idea and story to continue.

I give this 4 stars!

Unlike most dystopian novels, Megan Thomason’s Daynight fits several different premises together into a compellingly strange new world. First is an intriguing concept of “cleaving,” an unbreakable unity, replacing marriage, applied to any teens who allow their relationship to go too far. It certainly sounds like a convincing way to keep young adults in order, though the question of who defines “too far,” and who will choose who they cleave to when they reach eighteen makes it kind of scary. Add to this a world where disobedience is punishable by terrifying exile or by death. Then connect it to our own present world through strange portals, controlled by a powerful business corporation. Add Second Chancers to the mix – earth’s prematurely dead, who get a second chance at life. Stir and repeat. Sprinkle politics on top...

It’s a heady mix, and surprisingly it works, through some strong characters and the author’s strong writing. The plot may be a little unconvincing at times, but the male and female voices that tell the tale can carry it well. If Kira is occasionally blind to the logs in her own eye, well, she is a teen, and she does mature convincingly during the story. And if her different love interests keep a few too many secrets, well, the same thing applies.

A thickening plot ensues, but it keeps the reader turning pages very effectively, and this reader, at least, is eager to see the rest of the series.

Disclosure: I first read Daynight in the collection, What Tomorrow May Bring, and was glad to be introduced to this author.

I absolutely have loved all three of the books she has published so far. I, too, had a hard time putting it down and read it in like two days. I cannot wait for generate to come out so I can see what she has planned next. All of her characters felt real and alive. I especially loved the word play between Jax and Ethan. Praise for her writing skills and ability to keep me enthralled.
