Missy Suicide

I'm not into these as much as I was a few years ago, and there was only ever a relative handful of girls that really appealed to me anyway, but this is still a pretty nice large-format book with a lot to look at. I just wish the photos had been a bit more...artistic. Frankly most of them are boring and uninspired. It's possible to take a striking photograph regardless of the subject but this book, by and large, doesn't show it. I've seen the web-site and I know there are far more interesting images available, so I don't know why they didn't select them.… (mais)

The photos chosen represent various themed photoshoots with a nerdy touch, either in tribute to a favorite book/show/movie, or showing off geeky tattoos. I bought this as a Valentine's Day gift for my wife back in 2005 when she was considering modeling for a Suicide Girls set, which should give you some idea of how awesome she is. The book is exactly what you imagine it to be: high-quality photo reproductions from the website. The girls are pretty. The brief blog-like interviews in the back are charming in the way that even the most banal words are charming when they emerge from the mouth of a gorgeous naked twenty year old. What else do you want? Apart from its merits as sexy coffee table fodder, a book like Suicide Girls has a certain appeal as an artifact of its particular internet era. The real thing is obviously the website, but when a website like Suicide Girls gets wildly successful it may start to throw off old media souvenirs. Unlike most books, which strive to be little packets of uniqueness, the whole point is of this one is that it is ancillary.… (mais)
