Walks, Tracks and Trails of Victoria de Derrick Stone
I really like these books. While the walks are well described and the individual route maps are good, what would be really helpful at the planning stage, is an overall map at the front of the book with numbered dots on showing where all the walks are. I know they are broken up to regions in an index, but so many of us think visually, and that is a tool that I would use. Sometimes a couple of walks can be in different regions but actually close enough together to consider doing in one short break away.… (mais)
Great photos from the period from the late 1850s to the 1930s, with explanations, in the introductory chapter on mining technology (pp. 20-81). Valuable for the kind of detail that is extremely rare in American books on mining history!
