Decent overview of a number of famous criminal cases. The "fiction" part is, well, a fiction, as the authors really only give lip service to fictional detectives in one chapter. Frankly, they should have dropped that angle, and stuck with the real cases. The real cases themselves have some famous and well known ones (Crippen, for example), but also some lesser known cases as well. Had the authors not tried to work in the fictional detectives so sloppily, I might have given this a higher rating.
