Do not, I repeat, do NOT open this book if you have not yet eaten. This is a highly dangerous collection of salivating street food that is liable to set your taste buds into high gear. The photographs of street vendors around the world and their sumptuous fare is simply too much for the unprotected reader. Pommes frites in Holland, samosas in India, succulent squid in Sicily...please, make it end. This simply isn't fair.

The text by Israel Aharoni and the photos by Nelli Sheffer work well together, as they break the book into chapters for each country. I swear I can hear the food frying and the passersby shouting their orders while string lights sway in the night wind. America is only now getting into the alfresco mode with the Twitter followers of food trucks and hand carts.

So yummy. This book will get you off your fast-food behind and, hopefully, get you to the nearest airport for a journey focusing on down-to-earth street food. Go for it (and bring the book).
