Reminded me a lot of the Encyclopedia Brown stories I used to read as a kid. Now that I'm better aware of the nature of the stories, I think I'll enjoy them more in the future.

Very grim and well written story of a man's last hours on death row. I didn't find his interactions with the warden, the guard, and the chaplain very believable as I wouldn't think they would be alone in a room with someone of enormous strength like that, but Verne's (the condemned man's) thoughts were pretty compelling as they reveal his dark past.

Two years into Atkins and need a tiny refresher on carbs and this book filled the bill.
