The book was a parabola. It took a while to build, became very good, and then fizzled quickly at the end. I didn't need the retelling of the comfort women history and the insertions took up space and I just blew through them. The Maeve with the gang banger boyfriend became readable but was predictable. JS just seems to come up short every time but I still enjoy the read.

Certainly not the best Liffey novel. Too many points of view for such a short novel. Everything moved fast though the Liffey read well. This books catastrophe was a forest fire. Its too bad because Liffey's is developed enough where Shannon could be more subtle.

Didn't have a near apocalyptic ending like many of his Jack Liffey books but it was still a bit extreme. The bad guy not really being that bad and a bit too preachy on race. Liffey is starting to go in circles over women as well. An ok read but will keep reading the series.

Great read and Shannon's best Jack Liffey yet. Liffey's characteris evolving in interestng true ways and Shannon's witticisms and insights proke thought and laughter. All in southern California. No fire or earthquakes tis time. Just some terrorists and drug lords to deal with. A good and puzzling ending as well. Though slow in a couple parts and why he said good-bye to the Rhodesian woman I don't know. He should have kept them both. Look forward to the next read.
