The blurb sums up this story perfectly, so I will just launch right into my review. I loved this story! For a debut novella, this was a well written, fast-paced story.

I liked the heroine a lot. Lucy's sad background made her the tough cookie we get to see in the book. She's ashamed of her past and seems to feel the need to constantly reassure herself that she is nothing like the rest of her family. She has carved out a very successful (legal) career for herself; a way of distancing herself from her past. She knows right from wrong, but when probably like most human beings, when the life of a loved one is at stake, she's willing to bend the rules and risk big. She doesn't have a private life to speak of, and her heart is pretty much hardened against romantic entanglements.

"I can't live in a fairy tale." She watched his face and smiled, trying to soften her words. "I'm attracted to you. Can't that be enough?"

Alec was a delectable hero. Calm under pressure, caring, devoted to his kin and determined to ensure their comfort, safety and keep the peace. Despite the imminent threat of losing his dragon because he hasn't been able to find his mate, he still puts everyone and everything else first. Once he realized that Lucy was forced to steal from him, he played along in the hopes of gaining her trust and finding the right moment to reveal his secrets. But Lucy was a good example of letting her own personal hangups get in the way of discovering something new and wonderful; something for herself. Every so often I wanted to grab Lucy by the shoulders and shake her until her teeth rattled. Talk about being in denial. For all her bravado, I quickly realized that her tough facade really was covering up a broken person on the inside. I got the feeling she knew that all her begging and pleading with Joey were falling on deaf ears. But as the only family she had left, I could understand how she wasn't willing to let go. At least not until it was too late.

The author really excelled at making me feel for the characters once Lucy threw Alec's trust away. I love when an author isn't afraid to make the heroine the "bad guy" for a while. There was also a great fight scene amongst the dragons. It was detailed so well, I could actually picture it. It was a little short-lived, but it underscored perfectly what was at stake for Alec. The ending was perfect. Lucy finally had a few epiphanies, grew a backbone, and spent a perfect evening with Alec in both forms ;) If you love a story with emotional drama, a caring, sexy and very protective alpha dragon and a stubborn, sassy heroine, then this is the perfect story for you. Ms Scott has a great voice and a great imagination. I can't wait to read more from her.

We FINALLY get Mei and Darius's story in DRAGON HER BACK. It was nice to finally understand why Mei was pushing Darius away and get to know them both better.

Mei was never my favorite secondary character. She comes off pretty hard and cold and I really didn't like how she was pushing Darius away even though his dragon was fading. I was relieved when I realized that she didn't KNOW that his dragon was fading and she in fact cared a lot about that fact. I am not sure if I just assumed before or if that is a spoiler so I apologize now if no one else knew that either. I didn't really have an opinion of Darius before DRAGON HER BACK. I felt sorry for him for having a mate that didn't seem to want him, but that was about all. I was really surprised at how vulnerable Mei was throughout most of the book. She ended up confiding in Darius pretty quickly and didn't drag it out until it was too late, which was nice. It was great to watch them finally come together as a team (although it wasn't always smooth).

There were a few things I didn't understand and they're bugging the heck out of me. Why did the woman in the casino smell like Darius? Doesn't something like that only happen if they have sex? If so, wtf? Don't get it. Also Lana. She was awful and refused to help Mei when she was was obviously in trouble. Why wasn't this brought up again? Both situations really left a bad taste in my mouth and it would have been nice if we got more answers and closure from them.

One of the things I have enjoyed about all of the books in this series is that they are all shorter, fast paced, and still manage to convey a complete story. Whose love story will be next? Could it be Jane?

Tee has a pretty neat job. She works at the casino as hostess. Her clients can be a little weird but she enjoys what she does. She makes good money but she is currently helping the tribe out financially and staying with some of her coworkers to save money. From day one her boss Leo has had a pull on her and no matter what she does he doesn't seem to 'take the bait'. Leo is close to losing his dragon if he doesn't find his dragon mate soon. Tee is just the kind of woman he wants but she doesn't have his dragon mark and has refused to get involved with her. He doesn't understand the huge pull and protectiveness he feels for her either.

For some reason, the story behind STOP DRAGON MY HEART AROUND didn't feel as involved as LUCK OF THE DRAGON did. I still enjoyed it, the story just felt shorter. I found Tee to be pretty stubborn and I hated her initial reaction to finding out what Leo was. I am glad it didn't last long but it kinda put me off her character for a bit. Leo was also a pretty stubborn person. When he decided he wanted Tee even though it might mean losing his dragon for good my heart melted for him. I really enjoyed getting to know some of the secondary characters while watching the newest love match form.

The world that the Las Vegas Dragons live in is pretty neat. I like that they have a territory right out in the open yet no one knows they are there. I love the alpha-ness the male characters get towards their women. Both stories in the series have been fast paced, full of sexual tension, and fun. I look forward to seeing who's love story comes next.
