Michael Schnabel tells the heartfelt story of Daddy's Girl.

Parenting is often the most important thing you do. Many people will tell you that life means more and that sometimes you have little control over the final outcome.

Kids challenge you at every age, but what if one of the biggest challenges you face is knowing your child just gave birth and she only has an 8 % chance of surviving her illness?

On a day when most mothers of newborn babies are wondering if they will be able to get enough sleep, Michael's daughter, Stephanie, is faced with thinking that her baby's bedtime story may be, Once upon a time, you had a Mother.

Stephanie's illness presents the family with conflicting thoughts, emotions, and impulses.

It would have been understandable if they became isolated in their grief and fear.

Instead, something beautiful happened. Her family made a pact filled with plans that promote attention, encouragement, faith, love, and strength.

Readers observe the family searching out trusted opinions. Michael writes of the life lessons learned and we recognize Stephanie has hope and it gives her courage, energy, and boldness to face the challenges ahead of her with the thought of being there for her child and family.

In all honesty, I was hooked on the first page of this book. The section early on where Michael speaks of purchasing the lamb was so raw and beautiful that it caused me to weep. Michael was able to replace the feeling of powerlessness with peace in uncertainty and wrote this beautiful memoir for his Grandson, Caden, so he would know more about Daddy's Girl.
