Be Fast or Be Gone is a business novel that sheds light on the use of Critical Chain Project Management in a suspenseful social setting. Mike, main character in the story, finds himself in a sorrowful situation of having a limited time to save his son’s life from brain cancer. Mike has to accelerate a project that is aimed to produce a cure to his son. Using Critical Chain PM, Mike manages to make a turnaround to a pharmaceutical company that produces the needed medicine and changes its way of managing projects, too.

The novel presented the Critical Chain PM in an easy-to-read narration. Taking the reader from the basic justifications that necessitate a leaner approach to PM, the novel outlined the high-level steps of incorporating this methodology in any organization. The author did a good job in presenting the rationale behind the CC-PM and in managing stakeholders to deploy such a game-changing business culture.

To sum up, although it does not good deep in the technicalities of the methodology, this book is a good introduction to Critical Chain PM. I recommend it to Project Managers who would like to find a way to change some current PM methodologies that fail sometimes in meeting projects’ objectives especially due to time constraint.… (mais)
